Progressive Hair Dye for Men –an Avoidable Health Risk

Progressive Hair Dye is an Dangerous Risk for Men

Many men use progressive hair dye because they're unaware of a safer, natural hair dye alternative to color gray hair. Progressive hair dye and hair color formulas have been targeted at men for decades to cover their gray hair. These change the gray hair color gradually.

Permanent and semi-permanent synthetic dyes usually contain extremely harmful and toxic chemicals like P-Phenylenediamine (PPD), ammonia, peroxide, lead acetate and a slew of others that can cause damage to the natural hair shaft. They also have caused severe allergic reaction on the scalp, neck and face of several dermatologists’ patients. Growing allergic reaction is one of the reasons dermatologists recommend a using natural hair dye to color hair such as a henna hair dye.

Natural Plant-based Hair Dye is Safer than Chemical Dyes

Men, don’t take risks with your health or natural hair color. Use a natural hair dye: 100% natural henna hair dye. The only natural vegetable hair dye approved by the FDA is: 100% natural henna hair dye.

A Gray Hair Dye Alternative for Men -Conditions Hair Naturally

Lustrous Henna ® hair dye is non-toxic, completely safe and 100% natural hair dye. Make Bath Salts at Home to Caress Your Tired Body

Why Make Ancient Bath Salts at Home

Make Bath Salts at Home to Caress Your Tired Body –by L.J O’Neal, writer.Bath salts are water-soluble, pulverized minerals added to water to be used for bathing. They are said to improve cleaning, enhance the enjoyment of bathing, and serve as a vehicle for cosmetic agents. Bath salts have been developed which mimic the properties of natural mineral baths or hot springs.1

It is said that an Ayurvedic bath can do all the above as well as promote skin rehydration, increase energy, improve circulation, relax our muscles and help us get a great night’s sleep.
“Bath salts, when used in their natural, pure form, contain many beneficial minerals and nutrients that keep your skin smooth, soft, and supple. Some of the minerals found in bath salts include magnesium, potassium, calcium, bromide, and of course, sodium. These minerals are easily absorbed into our pores and are known to cleanse and purify our skin on a molecular level, improving your skin’s radiance, tone, and texture.

Magnesium helps us fight stress and combat fatigue; calcium keeps water retention in check, promotes healthy bones and can help stave off osteoporosis; potassium balances moisture levels in the skin; bromide soothes tired, sore muscles; sodium plays a significant role in managing the balance of lymphatic fluid in our bodies. The result? Bath salts benefit not only our skin, but our entire bodies – from the inside out.”

How to Mix Ancient Bath Salts at Home

Make Bath Salts at Home to Caress Your Tired Body –by L.J O’Neal, writer.“When you use bath salts, the first step is to find the bath salt that’s right for you. You have to be careful to use bath salts that are of the highest quality possible; in their pure form, bath salts contain many beneficial minerals that can be lost if the salt is overly processed. Be sure to use 100% natural bath salts that are made from real sea salt.

It’s easy to use bath salts. For a bath, fill the tub about halfway to the desired level. Take a handful of bath salts and pour them into the bath by holding your hand under the faucet, allowing the bath salts to fall with the water into the tub. While pouring the bath salts into the bath, their fragrance will be released into the steam, allowing for a very fragrant bath.  Depending on their size, bath salts will dissolve quickly once in contact with hot water. Once you have poured one to two handfuls of bath salts into your bath, you’re ready to relax!  Be sure to stir the bath salts into the water and circulate them well, so the fragrances are released into the steam.
If you would like to use bath salts for exfoliation, simply take a small handful of fine-grain bath salts and add a tiny bit of water. Work the mixture into a paste and smooth it over your skin. You’ll be softer and smoother than you ever imagined!”3

Did you know that natural herbal oils you've probably already use for skin care are known to help strengthen, regrow hair and to eliminate dandruff. Flaxseed oil is very beneficial for healthy hair. It’s easy to apply, and when used along with the natural botanical powders at Saba Botanical of USA, might make a difference in your rate of hair growth in just a few short months.

Healthy Hair Benefits from Flaxseed Oil –by L.J. O’Neal, writer.Flaxseed Oil Benefits Hair and Skin

Flaxseed oil contains an abundance of Omega-3 fatty acids contributes to healthy hair growth. It’s known to revitalize the scalp in part due to its anti-inflammatory properties. The essential fatty acids have been known to combat psoriasis and eczema. Flaxseed oil, when taken as a dietary supplement, also promotes shiny, radiant and healthy hair.

Flaxseed oil can be found in whole food markets and other all-natural or herb stores. You can make your own at a fraction of the price and make sure it’s stored in amber glass instead of black plastic, but you will have to invest in a (cold) oil press extractor.

Make Your Own Cold-Pressed Flaxseed Oil

You’ll still need to purchase flax seed and an oil press extractor. Flax seed can be found easily in international farmer's markets and natural grocery stores. For information on purchasing an Oil Press Extractor unit, do your own research and make your own purchasing decision according to your budget and personal need:

Pure Body Art Quality Henna for Lustrous Hair Care

Pure Body Art Quality Henna for Lustrous Hair Care –by L.J. O’Neal, writer.Body Art Quality Henna for Hair
vs. Traditional Henna Hair Dye

Body Art Quality Henna (BAQ Henna) is normally used for tattoo body art, however the higher dye content actually makes it a stronger application than other types of henna for hair dye. Therefore, Saba Botanical of USA provides pure, body art quality henna (Lawsonia Inermis) for those who prefer to use body art quality henna for their hair care –even though it’s a much longer application process.

Where Body Art Quality Henna is Grown

This 100% natural, pure henna (BAQ henna) is grown in Rajasthan, India. Rajasthani henna is widely acclaimed as the source of the world’s best henna, being farmed and produced for generations. When the henna leaves are processed, the henna is tediously examined and finely sifted to maintain high quality. It’s then packaged in air-tight plastic bags and again sealed in foil packaging to protect and ensure freshness; also to protect from light and moisture.

Body Art Quality Henna to Color Natural Hair

  • This body art quality henna is contains no other herbs. It’s entirely safe to use on hair.
  • The highly sifted body art quality henna makes it easy apply and to rinse out hair.
  • Body art quality henna (BAQ henna) permanently dyes the hair, as well as covers gray hair. Over time, it will darken and not fade out. If used by itself, your hair color will be bright coppery red on light hair or darker hair can be varying shade of reds: from reddish brown, auburn to deep copper tone depending on usage and original hair color.
  • If body art quality henna is properly mixed with indigo, it will produce a jet black hair color.

Using BAQ Henna to Cover Chemical Hair Dye

No worries! You can use 100% pure body art henna (BAQ henna) over a commercial hair dye or chemical residue in hair. There are no added chemical dyes or metallic salts in our body art quality henna. It is 100% pure and contains no other ingredient. So you should have no worries about dangerous allergic reaction from a chemical dye. No worries about ingredients that will risk your health.

Saba Botanical of USA sells pure body art quality henna (Lawsonia Inermis). Sold in 100 gm. packages, currently $3.99 each.
An Interior Designer's Experience
My name is Gail and I live in Los Angeles CA. I am an interior designer and have to look my best at all times. Several months ago, I developed an allergy to all salon products. They started to burn my scalp , even the so-called henna products I tried all had some kind of chemical ingredients. My husband found out about Saba on the Internet and I sent away for your product. Since I started using Saba, there has been no more burning, and the color is rich and naturally beautiful. It is a great and safe product, and I highly recommend it.

Thank you,

Safety First –More About Synthetic Hair Dye and Chemicals

Safety First –More About Synthetic Hair Dye and Chemicals–by L.J. O’Neal, writer.

Safety First: Synthetic Hair Dye and Chemicals

Hair salon and consumer hair coloring formulas use a high number of toxic chemicals in their formulas. In one analysis of popular brands and formulations, Consumer Reports found nearly 20 different ingredients that were classified as potential human carcinogens “Conventional dyes contain high level of toxic chemicals that can be absorbed through the scalp, where there is a rich blood supply. Then these chemicals circulate throughout your body, where they can be stored in the tissues and cause adverse health effects," says Marianne Marchese, ND, who practices natural medicine at a Woman's Time Clinic in Portland, Oregon.

A recent study conducted at Yale University found a link between permanent hair dye and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. One study for example, suggested that woman over the age of 50 who have used permanent hair dyes for ten or more years have an increased risk of breast cancer. Yet another discovered that users of permanent hair dyes are 2:1 times more likely to have bladder cancer. Other studies have linked the use of hair dyes to allergic contact dermatitis and skin disorders like eczema and to far more serious diseases like leukemia and ovarian cancer.

Safety First –More About Synthetic Hair Dye and Chemicals–by L.J. O’Neal, writer.Safety First: Never use synthetic dyes when coloring your hair!

“If you are thinking about coloring your hair, it's worth exploring natural options to bring out highlights, to add a little shading or to cover gray. Using a natural product, such as Lustrous Henna® is very safe and beneficial to your hair than a conventional hair dye that may completely damage your hair and scalp with prolong use.

‘Conventional dyes contain high level of toxic chemicals that can be absorbed through the scalp, where there is a rich blood supply. Then these chemicals circulate throughout your body, where they can be stored in the tissues and cause adverse health effects,’ says Marianne Marchese, ND, who practices natural medicine at a Woman's Time Clinic in Portland, Oregon.

Yet another discovered that users of permanent hair dyes are 2:1 times more likely to have bladder cancer. Other studies have linked the use of hair dyes to allergies and skin disorders like eczema and to far more serious diseases like leukemia and ovarian cancer.

Such study results should not be surprising when one considers the number of toxic ingredients used by both salon and consumer hair coloring formulas. In one analysis of popular brands and formulations, Consumer Reports found nearly 20 different ingredients that were classified as potential human carcinogens. The suspects included such heavy oncological hitters as coal tar derivatives, para-phenylenediamine (PPD), (which can also cause blindness), bezenediamine dihydrochloride, and aminonline dihydrochloride. Other hazardous ingredients include, ammonia, peroxide and lead, a heavy metal commonly found in products that gradually color hair over time with many repeated applications.”

Fortunately, a nontoxic alternative to synthetic hair dye does exist, in addition to the many ready-made formulas:

Lustrous Henna® 100% natural hair color is an innovation in hair coloring. Lustrous Henna® is available in many different shades.

Natural Hair Dye History and Applications

Natural Hair Dye History and Applications –by L.J. O’Neal, writer.Natural Hair Dye
-Various Historical Applications

The following quote is a bit of natural hair dye history that is informative and a little amusing. From the use of simple plants to mixing with potentially dangerous metals, this is quite interesting. It underscores the lengths people have gone in order to change their hair color and/or get rid of gray hair –all in the name of beauty.

“Hair dye is one of the oldest known beauty preparations, and was used by ancient cultures in many parts of the world. Records of ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Hebrews, Persians, Chinese, and early Hindu peoples all mention the use of hair colorings. Early hair dyes were made from plants, metallic compounds, or a mixture of the two. Rock alum, quicklime, and wood ash were used for bleaching hair in Roman times, and herbal preparations included mullein, birch bark, saffron, myrrh, and turmeric. Henna was known in many parts of the world; it produces a reddish dye.

Many different plant extracts were used for hair dye in Europe and Asia before the advent of modern dyes. Indigo, known primarily as a fabric dye, could be combined with henna to make light brown to black shades of hair dye. An extract of the flowers of the chamomile plant was long used to lighten hair, and this is still used in many modern hair preparations. The bark, leaves, or nutshells of many trees were used for hair dyes. Wood from the brazilwood tree yielded brown hair dyes, and another hair dye known in antiquity as fustic was derived from a tree similar to the mulberry. Other dyes were produced from walnut leaves or nut husks, and from the galls, a species of oak trees. Some of these plant-derived dyes were mixed with metals such as copper and iron, to produce more lasting or richer shades.”1
