So let’s check out a couple of banana hair mask recipes, that we can use BEFORE we shampoo with a mild shampoo or a couple tablespoons of an all-in-one natural shampoo powder. That way, you won’t get chased by monkeys who crave your ‘yummy smelling’ hair! Remember to use very ripe bananas; mix them up well, in a food processor or good blender. You don’t want chunks of banana getting caught in your hair.  Or…you can use my little ‘cheating’ healthy hair secret: a jar of organic baby food bananas…Shhh! Let’s keep that secret just between you and me.

Simply Bananas Hair Masks for Healthy Hair

1)   Mash a very ripe banana into a very smooth paste (no chunks). Add a tablespoon of olive oil or almond oil and mix until smooth.  Massage into hair and scalp. Cover your hair with a plastic bag or plastic wrap. Get under a hair dryer (low to medium setting) for about 15-20 minutes. If you don’t want to use a hair dryer, then just wrap a towel around your head. Follow up with shampoo or co-wash.

2)   Blend: 2 ounces of water; 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 egg, 1 very ripe mashed banana. Apply as in Mask #1. Follow up with shampoo or co-wash.

For pleasant fragrance, add a couple of drops of an essential oil like lavender, jasmine, ylang ylang or rose. Apply as in Mask #1. Follow up with shampoo or co-wash.
