Natural Hair When Transitioning or After The Big Chop

Natural Hair Transitioning, What is It?

Hair transitioning basically involves allowing the chemical perms and relaxers to remain your hair, while you attempt grow out your natural hair. As your hair grows, the chemical process is cut away ‘inch-by-inch’, until you are left with totally natural hair.

Natural Hair When Transitioning or After The Big Chop. The Big Chop,  (TBC) What is It?

“The Big Chop” (TBC) is cutting away all of the chemical perms and relaxers from your hair, to start fresh with a new, natural head of hair. It usually means sporting a much shorter hairstyle* for a while. One of the main reasons for the big chop is that the focus is now on growing longer, stronger natural hair, usually to a length previously unobtainable with chemicals processes.

Hair Care Regime With Proven Results for Natural Hair Growth

Whether growing natural hair along with chemically-altered hair or sticking with natural hair only, it is absolutely essential to follow a solid hair care regime. Use proven products that build up the condition of every strand of hair and promote healthy hair growth.  Natural hair care products that contain herbal ingredients that have been used for centuries throughout Asia to deep condition, stop hair fall and grow long hair.

Happy woman, Healthy HairAs you grow your natural hair, remember:

Gentle is the word! Always be gentle to your hair, whether you've done The Big Chop or transitioning; especially when your transitioning. When transitioning, you have two types of hair meeting at the ‘line of demarcation’ and it is a very weak line that can break off easily. Therefore: be very gentle!

Take care of your scalp; cleanse twice a week to every two weeks, depending on your hair condition.

Detangle, if you have naturally curly hair. Detangle your hair when it is wet and covered with conditioner; using a wide tooth or detangling comb, work gently from the ends, then upward.

Deep conditioning is your friend! Use a natural hair mask suitable for your hair type and feel the difference.

Moisturize regularly. Water is the best moisturizer. Some like to seal moisture with a little touch of coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter or vitamin E to ends. Others use aloe vera gel as a hair sealant, (but it’s also an excellent moisturizer).

Avoid excessive heat. Air dry your hair is preferable. Flat ironing or blow drying can cause excessively dry hair and can also damage your hair.
