Important precautions:

Prior to initial use, it’s recommended to test for possible allergy is extremely rare. Put a small amount of powder on skin and cover with a Band-Aid strip for 24 hours. If a rash appears, you might be allergic.
If you have “hard water” (water with extremely high mineral content), your hair color may turn green due to the high mineral content in your water when mixed with Cassia Obovata (Senna) so it’s extremely important to do a strand test first -if you use a “hard water” plumbing source.

Love your healthy hair!

Hair Color - Golden Highlights with Cassia Obovata.

Love your golden highlights with Cassia Obovata. www.SabaBotanical.com

Hair Color- Love the Golden Highlights of Cassia Obovata

Natural highlights of hair color like ash blonde hair, golden blonde hair or other lighter hair shades can be made radiant with Cassia Obovata. It is a green powder like henna, but unlike henna it does not deposit any color if left on for short time periods. Cassia Obovata is an excellent conditioning herb, also known to help with the hair loss. This powder can be mixed with other herbs as Amla, Shikakai for conditioning and other health benefits to hair and scalp.

According to Wikipedia, “Another Senna, Senna (Cassia obovata), often called "neutral henna", is used as a hair treatment with effects similar to henna but without the red color. The active component is an anthraquinone derivative called chrysophanic acid. It adds a slight yellow color.”

The yellow color is left when the powder made into a paste and is left on the hair for long periods of time. That why various shades of blonde hair, like ash blonde hair and golden hair gain beautiful natural highlights.

Cassia Obovata (Senna) will naturally condition all textures of hair, adding luster and supple definition. It is also known to improve scalp condition and eliminates dandruff. If you have is ash blonde hair, golden blonde or gray hair, it will brighten and add golden hues and natural highlights (depending on length of time the paste left on your hair). If you have dark hair color, it will not lighten your hair, but you will still reap the deep conditioning benefits found). It's also safe to use on relaxed, bleached or dyed hair.

Henna Plant_Cassia Senna Obovata

Left: Henna Plant.
Right: Cassia Senna Obovata Plant.

Can you SEE the difference?

Botanical History

Cassia Obovata is also called Senna (Senna Obovata). There are over 400 species of the Senna plant. The ground powder is made from harvested, dried leaves of the Cassia Obovata plant. Although it has various medicinal uses, this powder is often used to condition, thicken, define natural highlights and color the hair. Lighter hair color like ash blonde hair, golden hair and others naturally benefit from this plant.

About the Misnomer: “Neutral Henna”

Cassia Obovata or Senna is an herb that is frequently marketed by several companies as “Neutral Henna” powder. Of course this questionable marketing practice causes much confusion to the consumer.
As noted above, Cassia Obovata has a number of beneficial properties that help condition and soften the hair. However pure Cassia Obovata is not henna powder or made from the henna plant -as is the case with a genuine henna powder "neutral" mixture.

The staining and conditioning properties of Cassia Obovata or Senna (similar to henna powder staining and conditioning) might be one of the reasons it is often marketed as neutral henna.

Please Don’t Get Confused:

At Saba Botanical of USA, "neutral henna" is henna powder made from the stems of the henna plant. Genuine “neutral henna” from Saba Botanical of USA is not Cassia Obovata (Senna).

Hair Loss Reduced Naturally.

Reduce stress. www.sababotanical.comHair Loss: Reduce Our Emotional Stress and Keep Our Tresses

Hair loss can be reduced naturally and our hair can grow. Some hair loss issues can be corrected by reducing emotional stress as much as possible. Yes indeed, undue emotional stress and anxiety and cause us to literally lose our tresses.

If hair loss is a temporary condition, due to undue emotional stress, temporary illness or similar issue, then proven home remedies and ancient natural cures can help stop hair loss (hair fall). Natural cures include a change in diet (quite beneficial) and the reduction of extreme emotional stress. Exercise (also a part of natural cures) help improves overall health and can boost self-esteem while treating some causes of hair loss (hair fall).

The botanical extracts and powders on the Saba Botanical of USA website are well-known to be natural cures for hair loss (hair fall), used for literally centuries. In our modern day, they have proven to be truly beneficial home remedies.

Reduce Stress. www.sababotanical.com
Hair Loss Conditions Beyond Our Control

However, what if we have made tremendous efforts to care for and grow our hair, yet sadly we still experience problems with hair loss or hair fall? Like an unhealthy plant that ‘sickens’ and fails to grow after receiving tremendous care, the problem could be a medical issue.

Do we have an ongoing medical treatment known to cause hazardous effects on the hair? Even aging itself can cause our hair to become thinner, since the follicle is in a much longer resting phase, instead of the growing phase. There are several other conditions that are beyond our control and these sadly affect our (lack of) hair growth. It’s best to visit and work with our physician for optimal care if we suffer hair loss due to a medical or aging issue.
  • Am I experiencing hormonal changes due to pregnancy, postpartum and nursing?
  • Is my hair thinning due to male pattern baldness?
  • Am I under lots of stress?
  • Do I suffer from a glandular disorder such as thyroid disease or PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)?
  • Am I taking medications that can cause hair loss?
  • Do I have a low iron (ferritin) level?
Even though the above conditions can cause a slowing of hair growth or some hair fall, some are temporary and are within our control (or our doctor’s) to correct. We might need a change in medication, if that is possible.

Dedication CAN Stop Hair Loss and Grow Our Hair

While taking care of all the things within our power to control, it can grow abundantly with healthy and strong roots. We can achieve successful results by putting forth a dedicated and earnest effort.

Are we dedicated to a healthy hair growth routine? If not, now is the time to get started and promote hair growth. Our earnest efforts can become the solution to a healthy growing head of hair.

Hair Growth -Real Problems and Solutions

healthy hair. www.sababotanical.comHair Growth Blessings and Curses

For those of us with a regular hair care routine, we experience normal hair growth– approximately ½” per month or 6” a year. Most of us are satisfied with this level of healthy hair growth if we are able to achieve it. What a blessing!

Some of us feel we’ve been cursed: Our hair tends to need more care in order to grow to its full potential. As I’ve mentioned in the past, “If we stop the care, we can lose our hair.”  On a more extreme level, some of us feel forced to buy a wig or hair extensions - a temporary solution to give us some style and perhaps, a feeling of wellbeing. For the moment, it’s nice to look at, and if the look goes ‘bad’, we simply buy another one. Perhaps on a daily basis, we think: WHY won’t my hair grow? What can help my hair growth?

Promote Hair Growth -Facts

Our hair needs care to flourish and grow to its full potential. It’s not enough to simply use any ole’ shampoo and conditioner, then settle for whatever happens. It needs nourishment on a regular basis.

1) Nourish to Reduce Hair Loss

Nourish our body with healthy, protein-rich foods and we’ll nourish our hair. In order to have healthy hair, skin and nails –a well-balanced diet is critical. Iron-rich, protein foods, as well as those containing Vitamin C, Vitamin B-6, B-12, Foliate and Zinc will do much to prevent hair loss. A healthy diet should be the norm.

2) Avoid “Fast Foods”.

Want to produce a healthy hair shaft? Unhealthy and malnourishing snacks and fast foods that provide little or zero nourishment to health should be dramatically reduced or (dare I say it?) eliminated.

healthy food = healthy hair. www.sababotanical.comRegular Maintenance Required to Promote Hair Growth

If we rarely attempt to provide proper care for our hair, then we shouldn't expect miraculous results from minimal efforts. A regular routine must be established and adhered to if we want to minimize hair loss and promote hair growth. Over time, this regular routine will become a very simple process as we accustom ourselves to it.

1.     Daily hair care.

2.     Weekly or biweekly: mild shampoo and regular conditioning.
3.     Monthly deep conditioning.
4.     Use natural, herbal products that are proven to stop hair loss and promote hair growth.
5.     Clip split ends every 2-3 months as necessary, but use extreme          caution: don’t cut off your hair growth!

A word of caution about clipping split ends:

To grow longer hair, NEVER clip more than 1/8”-1/4” (inch) per month. If we do, we’ll literally be cutting away our new hair growth! The reason is that most hair grows about 1/2” (inch) per month, totaling six (6) inches a year. Do the math. This is totally within our control. A tiny snipping is all that is really necessary, especially if we want to see visible hair growth results.

Lustrous Henna® Hair Color:  Brown

“The Pros - Natural=Gentle on the scalp. I have colored with other so called gentle coloring with disastrous results. I will now only use Saba Botanical as I had no adverse reaction at all. Also natural brown coloring. The Cons - No real cons to this product so far, just as it states if you are very grey you will have to color a couple times. I’m grey on the sides and it kind of turned it blondish which I don’t mind, it blends nicely. If you go to the gym the day after you will be able to smell the herbs, but it’s worth it for a product that’s not damaging to your body. Thanks.” – M.T., Bradenton, FL., USA

Henna Hair Dye Review: Lustrous Henna® Soft Black

“After several years of using Gar---r and Rev--n hair dyes my hair began to feel very dry and brittle. One day I was curious as to what chemicals they actually use in their dyes and I came across an article about a young girl who died of a chemical in these hair products called PPD. As I began to further research this chemical I found a load of stuff on the internet claiming it was a cancer causing chemical that can cause severe allergic reactions and the scariest thing is, it can happen to anyone at any time, whether it was your first or 40th time of dying your hair.

I decided to try henna. This product is wonderful. I am so glad it is all natural and PPD Free! I will continue to purchase this product. BEAUTIFUL, natural looking COLOR! Thank you for making such a wonderful SAFE product!” –Sarah in California, U.S.A.

“Whereas commercial hair colorants are irritating to the skin, Henna is an excellent substitute. The color is dark and lasts.” –E.S. in Maryland, U.S. A.

“I have been using Lustrous Henna for 5 years now and found it to work perfect for me. Apart from color, it gives some volume to the hair because it provides a coating on the hair. It is proved to be safe on my skin as well.” – Thiru S., Sunnyvale, CA., U.S.A.

“I am highly allergic to regular dyes, so henna is really my only option. I love Saba-Botanical because the price is right and I receive my shipment fast. The result is amazing and I would recommend this product to anyone.” – Zoe W., Bayonne, NJ., U.S.A.

“I am amazed how well this work. I have developed allergies to the chemical dye, among other things and I was nervous to try this. But no side effects at all!!! Will continue to use this.” –Nancy H., Fawn Grove, PA., U.S.A.

“I love this product. I have been using this henna for for about 18 months. It took me a few tries to get a color that I like, but I have accomplished that. My hair is in better condition than it has been in my life. Shiny, silky, and no more frizzies. I began using it after experiencing a very serious allergic reaction to traditional dyes, and I would recommend it to anyone!” –Barbara B., Martinsville, OH., U.S.A.

“I just LOVE this product because it is the ONLY product I can use because I am totally allergic to any other hair coloring product. Please never discontinue this product. You are my only life line for not having gray hair. The product was shipped very timely. It covered all my gray and I have no complaints with it. Thanks again for making such a great product.”  - Denise M., Tomahawk, WI., U.S.A.

Testimonial about Lustrous Henna®  for Hair:

Thank you for this excellent product.  I have been using henna for years, as I have a severe allergy to hair dye.  I have never had such good coverage and had the color last for so long.  Because the texture of the henna is creamier, it is easier to use and less messy.  I get complimented on my hair color frequently.

Flowers all over the world have been known to possess medicinal powers
since ancient times. We have discussed the healthful properties of pure henna many times on our blog and why is it frequently recommended by dermatologists as an alternative to using chemical hair color dye. However, to underscore the fact that many natural flowering plants can still contribute to our well-being, in varying posts, let’s consider a few flowers of India and their medicinal attributes.

Kariyat

It has smooth leaves and white flowers with rose-purple spots on the petals.

. Consider another one: pure henna for hair. Receive healthy natural dying power with Lustrous Henna. Totally natural and totally safe to use for all men and women.

Thank you for this excellent product.  I have been using henna for years, as I have a severe allergy to hair dye.  I have never had such good coverage and had the color last for so long. Because the texture of the henna is creamier, it is easier to use and less messy.  I get  complimented on my hair color frequently.

Thanks again,

Debra Feura Bush, NY
