Healthy Hair from a Healthy Diet
Vitamin B complex was discussed in detail in a previous article. Now, let’s add more nutrients to our diet and produce healthy hair.Vitamin A: it is an antioxidant that aids in the making of healthy sebum in the scalp. Food sources rich in Vitamin A are fish liver oil, meat, milk, cheese, eggs, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, apricots and peaches.
Vitamin C: For healthy hair maintenance. Sources are citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, pineapple, tomatoes, and dark green vegetables.
Vitamin E: Improves scalp circulation. Food sources rich in vitamin E are vegetable oils, wheat germ oil, soybeans, raw seeds and nuts, dried beans and leafy green vegetables.
Nourish and Feed Your Hair
Healthy hair needs keratin, therefore, make sure your body receives and produces keratin naturally eating: protein-rich foods like nuts, seeds, low fat dairy products, lean meats, fish and egg whites. Get essential fatty acids (such as omega-3) from fatty fish like salmon. Additionally, find omega-3 in flaxseeds, walnuts, winter squash, beans and olive oil.
