“I started developing terrible allergic reactions to hair coloring products. I decided to let the gray grow in. The preparation was time consuming, the paste gritty and messy to apply. I left the product on for several hours with no effect on the gray. Vitamin B complex was discussed in detail in a previous article. Now, let’s add more nutrients to our diet and produce healthy hair.

Vitamin A: it is an antioxidant that aids in the making of healthy sebum in the scalp. Food sources rich in Vitamin A are fish liver oil, meat, milk, cheese, eggs, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, apricots and peaches.

Vitamin C: For healthy hair maintenance. Sources are citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, cantaloupe, pineapple, tomatoes, and dark green vegetables.

Vitamin E: Improves scalp circulation. Food sources rich in vitamin E are vegetable oils, wheat germ oil, soybeans, raw seeds and nuts, dried beans and leafy green vegetables.

Vitamins are absolutely crucial for healthy hair care and growth. Sure, you can take a multi-vitamin, but it is better to eat a healthy diet filled with nutrient-rich foods for healthy hair.

Are you stressed? Added stress can cause hair loss. Get your daily dose of B vitamins, especially B6, biotin, inositol and folic acid. Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid and B3 (niacin) are known to promote hair growth. Let discuss specifics:

Greasy Hair Transformed into Natural Lustrous Beauty

Greasy Hair Woes

Our hair is not unlike our skin when it comes to healthy hair care. Just like our skin benefits with -just enough oil- to keep it supple, our hair also becomes shiny and even minute abrasions are smoothed out in our hair shaft –nice benefits. However, when our skin has too much oil, problems are created. The same applies to hair. Too much oil creates greasy hair that is essentially dull and lifeless. The hair becomes very heavy and then attracts more dirt, which can lead to dandruff troubles. Greasy hair can also have split ends. Must we continue to fret over healthy hair care? Can greasy hair woes be eliminated?

Oily Hair Care Done Naturally

It is absolutely essential to stimulate circulation via scalp massage.
Regular brushing is also vital to distribute natural oils and promote healthy hair growth.
Add just a drop of one of the following essential oils to a little bit of mild shampoo to discourage excess oil production by the scalp: lemon, lemongrass, cedarwood, cypress, sage, patchouli.
Use Lustrous Henna® Shampoo Powder to condition hair, reduce oil and eliminate dandruff.
Avoid harsh shampoos containing detergents that dry hair too much, in turn your scalp responds by producing even more oil to compensate. (Good shampoo cleans without stripping your natural oils or irritating your eyes).
Use a sage tea rinse to eliminate excess oil and reduce dandruff.
Use an apple cider vinegar rinse (ACV rinse) regularly, as needed.

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse Benefits

An ACV or apple cider vinegar rinse is quite beneficial for treating oily hair. It rinses off excess oil and discourages dandruff. It also cuts soap and shampoo residue, leaving hair soft, smooth and naturally shiny. The vinegar smell does not remain after rinsing, so don’t worry. No more oily hair!

Apple Cider Vinegar Herbal Rinse for Oily Hair

1 pint boiling water
1 teaspoon each: burdock root, calendula flowers, chamomile flowers, lavender flowers, lemongrass and sage leaves
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Pour boiling water over herbs and steep for about 30 minutes. Strain and add vinegar. Pour over scalp and hair as final rinse after shampooing (with either shampoo suggested below). Leave on without rinsing out.

Simple Herbal Shampoo for Oily Hair Care

Lustrous Henna® Shampoo Powder is 100% natural and premixed with hibiscus flower and other natural herbal extracts. Just add a small amount of water and make a paste. Apply to hair. Wait 5-10 minutes and rinse out.

Pure Reetha Powder Organic Wash Mixture: Add 12 drops each chamomile and lavender essential oils to 2 tbsps. Reetha Powde r made into a paste with a small amount of water. Apply to hair. Wait 5-10 minutes and rinse out.
