Dry Scalp Olive Oil Treatment and Recipes

www.SabaBotanical.comOlive oil for hair is an excellent way to improve dry, damaged hair quickly. First, what should we avoid and why?

Dry Scalp Hair Treatment One: Avoid “moisture zappers”:
  • Excessive heat (blow dryers, flat irons, curling irons, etc.). Try to let hair dry naturally after shampooing or conditioning.
  • Excessive brushing.
  • Excessive Shampooing and being a “chemical hair product junkie” (using just about any commercial product claiming to help your hair)
  • Using chemical hair dye, hair perms, and hair relaxers.
  • Change in weather (causing use of heating systems in winter).
  • Direct sunlight will also dry hair out, zapping the moisture.
Dry Scalp Hair Treatment Two: Hair Needs Moisture -but What Kind? www.SabaBotanical.com

Start with the inside. Hydrating your body helps hydrate your hair. Drink water! At least 64 ounces daily. Add olive oil to your meals and salads and it will increase your skin’s suppleness and boost the shine in your hair. www.SabaBotanical.com

Dry Scalp Hair Treatment Three: Deep Condition Your Locks

Maintain the vibrancy in your hair by deep conditioning and oiling your scalp and roots-REGULARLY. The following hair recipe treatments can be used in-between normal shampooing and conditioning. Moisturize your strands from the roots to tip with a moisturizing conditioner that won’t weigh your hair down. Olive oil is a great source of Vitamin E and Eggs are protein-rich.

Olive Oil for Hair Recipe

1: Olive Oil for Hair Mayonnaise Conditioner

Simply whisk or blend together 1 egg with ½ to 1 cup of olive oil (depending on the length of your hair). After mixing well, pour the conditioner content onto dry hair and cover it with a plastic cap and warm towel; leave it on for at least an hour. For deeper conditioning use gentle low heat from a bonnet dryer for 20-30 minutes. Rinse off with a very mild, nurturing herbal shampoo like, Lustrous Henna® Shampoo Powder. No need to use a conditioner with Lustrous Henna® Shampoo Powder. While still wet, gently comb hair through with a wide-tooth comb (start from hair tips, ending with roots). Let your hair dry naturally.

2: Hot Olive Oil Treatment (HOOT)

This is a great conditioner for all hair types. Warm up 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil in the microwave for around 15 seconds. Pour into the palm of your hand and gently massage it into the hair -from scalp to ends- until complete saturated. Cover with a plastic cap and damp towel. Wait for at least 30 minutes. Rinse out using a mild shampoo like Lustrous Henna® Shampoo Powder. (You don’t really need to use a conditioner, but if you insist, try Imbue™ Nurturing Conditioner or So Natural™ Moisturizing Conditioner by Saba Botanical of USA.)

3: Extra tip to eliminate dry scalp and frizzy hair:

Light Daily Maintenance: In the palms of your hands, add just a few drops of olive oil. Run your hands through your hair to control frizz. You can apply this on dry or damp hair.
