Sapindus is a genus of about five to twelve species of shrubs and small trees in the Lychee family, Sapindaceae, native to warm temperate to tropical regions from ancient to modern times. The flowers form in large panicles, each flower small, creamy white encased in green pinnate or feather-shaped leaves.
The fruit is a small leathery-skinned drupe (a fruit in which an outer skin or fleshy part surrounds a shell or pit with a seed inside –a peach is an example of a drupe). The yellow color of Soapnut ripens to a blackish color, containing one to three seeds.
Soapnut contain saponins which are a natural surfactant. They have been used for washing for thousands of years by native peoples in Asia as well as Native Americans. Besides containing excellent cleansing properties, it is known to keep hair and skin soft. From the ancient days until now, in some parts of the world people make liquid soap from Soapnut, by simply grinding and soaking the fruit overnight. The seed of the fruit contains precious oil. The extract is made by grinding the seed and the pulp to use in shampoo.
Even in modern times, Soapnuts, such as those of Sapindus mukorossi, are a popular ingredient in Ayurvedic shampoos and cleansers. They have been used in Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment for eczema and psoriasis. Soapnuts have gentle insecticidal properties and are traditionally used for removing lice from the scalp. There are other numerous medicinal benefits contained within Soapnuts that modern science is currently “discovering”.
Saba Botanical includes Soapnut (Reetha Fruit) in its list of beneficial ingredients in several products for healthy hair.
You can purchase Soapnut (Reetha Fruit) Powder in individual 100 gram packs currently for only $3.99 each.

I tried your Lustrous Henna Black and the sample of your Imbueshampoo. I'm so pleased with the results of the Lustrous Black and
your shampoo is very gentle to the hair. I will be placing an order
over your website in the next week or 2 but wanted to send my feedback
as I'd like you to keep me posted with any promotional events and any
information you have.
I read your story about the commercial hair dyes & can certainly relate
as I've had similar experiences.I like the way you have changed your
website as it is very informative and much more user friendly.
Thank you,
