Syed,

Thanks so much for sending me the second pack of soft black henna. I tried a patch of hair with it and it did work much better than the first batch that I received. The black color had a tint of blue in it and I was concerned that it would color my hair blue instead of darkening my existing red. So I tried the dark brown that I had previously used again. This time I applied it to damp hair, covered my head with a plastic cap and applied heat. The color difference was incredible! My dark hair got darker but my white covered with a much darker, richer red color. I am thrilled with the results and will continue to experiment with the color to get the red a bit more brown.

My hair feels so soft and truly looks wonderful! I was wondering how long the color lasts? I can't thank you enough for your patience with me. I was getting discouraged and beginning to give up. I have searched for about 8 years for a natural product that works and didn't think one existed. You have no idea how excited I am to have found your product.
Thanks so very much!
Sincerely, Cindy A.

The Power of the Flower: Soapnut (Reetha Fruit) for Soft Hair and Skin

soapnut-reetha-fruit-saba-botanicalThe Indian name, Reetha fruit, contains natural soap. Soapnut, Soapberries are given this common name because the fruit pulp is used to make soap. The generic name is derived from the Latin words saponis, meaning “soap,” and indicus, meaning “of India.

Sapindus is a genus of about five to twelve species of shrubs and small trees in the Lychee family, Sapindaceae, native to warm temperate to tropical regions from ancient to modern times. The flowers form in large panicles, each flower small, creamy white encased in green pinnate or feather-shaped leaves.

The fruit is a small leathery-skinned drupe (a fruit in which an outer skin or fleshy part surrounds a shell or pit with a seed inside –a peach is an example of a drupe). The yellow color of Soapnut ripens to a blackish color, containing one to three seeds.

black-hair-care-saba-botanical Soapnut contain saponins which are a natural surfactant. They have been used for washing for thousands of years by native peoples in Asia as well as Native Americans. Besides containing excellent cleansing properties, it is known to keep hair and skin soft. From the ancient days until now, in some parts of the world people make liquid soap from Soapnut, by simply grinding and soaking the fruit overnight. The seed of the fruit contains precious oil. The extract is made by grinding the seed and the pulp to use in shampoo.

Even in modern times, Soapnuts, such as those of Sapindus mukorossi, are a popular ingredient in Ayurvedic shampoos and cleansers. They have been used in Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment for eczema and psoriasis. Soapnuts have gentle insecticidal properties and are traditionally used for removing lice from the scalp. There are other numerous medicinal benefits contained within Soapnuts that modern science is currently “discovering”.

Saba Botanical includes Soapnut (Reetha Fruit) in its list of beneficial ingredients in several products for healthy hair.

Dear Syed,

I Love Lustrous Henna.
I've been meaning to write to you about your excellent product. I used Lustrous Henna this weekend and it was by far the best experience and result I've had from a henna-based product.  The creamy formula was easy to apply and rinse out (unlike so many other henna products I've tried), and the color is vibrant. I achieved much better coverage of my grays than with any other product and I intend to keep on using it. Also, I'm going to bring your pamphlet to a local health food store and praise Lustrous Henna to the max!  Thanks so much for a great product, Syed.

I found that with my hair I needed about 3/4 of a package for one application, and will use the remainder for touch-ups.

I hope this finds you well --- it was so pleasant chatting with you.
All the best,
Doretta W.

Testimonial about Lustrous Henna 100% Natural Hair Color Dye in 9 different natural shades.
"Love your product! I am 85% grey and ordered the Henna Soft Black along with the Indigo. I used three parts of Henna Soft Black and one part of Indigo. I love the results. I got a very dark brown to black color hair which was exactly what I was looking for.

I used chemical dyes two or three times and developed severe reactions to the chemicals used in those products. With the Henna Soft Black and Indigo I just get great looking hair with no reactions. Would recommend to anyone looking for natural products".

Multani Hair Care RECIPES. Multani Clay, Multani Mitti, Fuller’s Earth… Anyway You Say it.

Bring salon hair treatment to your home for men and women.

Simply order Multani Clay Powder from Saba Botanical. Relax, save money and smile.

multani-mitti-clay-powder-saba-botanical Multani Clay Powder Recipes for Hair
Damaged or Dull Hair Treatment: Moisten hair with warm water. Massage generous amount of natural oil into hair (refined sesame or apricot, shea nut oil, olive oil, etc.) Cover hair with plastic shower cap (or plastic wrap like “Saran” wrap) and a towel. Leave on for a minimum of one hour.

Next: apply a muddy paste of Multani Clay Powder (mixed w/water) to hair and scalp. Leave on for 30 minutes. Using warm water, completely rinse the mud from hair and scalp.

Shampoo with a mild shampoo (Imbue or So Natural shampoo from Saba Botanical). Apply a small amount of refined oil (except olive oil due to scent) to damp, towel dried hair and scalp. Comb through with a wide tooth comb. Let your hair dry naturally.

Split End Treatment:

Massage hair and scalp with olive oil. After 2 hours, steam hair for 30 minutes (wrap a towel dipped in hot water around head, avoiding face). Wash hair using a mix of Multani Clay Powder and whole milk (use buttermilk for oily hair). Let dry naturally. The next day, shampoo hair with a mild shampoo (Imbue or So Natural shampoo from Saba Botanical).

Super Quick Dry Shampoo:

Divide hair into sections and fluff a little Multani Clay Powder through each section. Rub in well and leave on for 10 minutes. Brush out thoroughly with a clean brush. The Multani Clay Powder will absorb most of the oil and dirt from hair. (Can be done if it’s inconvenient to do traditional shampoo).

Testimonial about Lustrous Henna 100% Natural Hair Color Dye in 9 different natural shades.

After buying thousands, and I mean literally thousands of products for my extremely dry, dull, kinky, fine hair that did not work, I reluctantly tried your product because I saw a testimonial on your website from a patron who sounded like she had hair somewhat like mine. I have tried cellophane, which worked pretty good but the problem with that was it lasted no time at all.  It seemed to all come out in the first  washing... I have even purchased other Henna products and threw then in the trash without even trying then on my hair because the texture was like thick garbage and mud I when mixed.

WOW!  What a difference.  I mean as soon I took it off there was rich color and shine and that was only after one application. My hair hasn't looked like this since I moved away from Chicago 20 years ago.  The water in LA is much harder and combined with the constant sun, my hair was just a dry brittle mess, really.  Other products just seem to sit on top of my hair, yours actually stained, coated and moisturized my hair. The texture of my hair feels different, it is stronger and has body. I can't imagine what it will be like after 3 or 4 applications if it looks like this after one. I certainly will continue to use your product to see. Oh, and it covered the gray wonderfully.  Of course the grey came out lighter that the rest of my darker hair but it just made it look as if I had spent a fortune to have highlights done.

I only wish you could have done a before and after picture of my hair,  you would sell millions.  If this can make my hair look like it belongs on a human beings head again rather that a scare crow, it will work on anyones hair.

Multani Clay, Multani Mitti, Fuller’s Earth… Anyway You Say it, Your Hair, Face & Body Will “Thank You”!

Oily hair? Acne? Suffer from arthritis pain? Some have called it, “miracle clay”.

multani-mutti-clay-for-family-saba-botanical Multani Clay (Multani Mitti in India) has been used literally for centuries for its multiple natural medicinal benefits for the entire family. It’s also called Fuller’s Earth formed by decomposed volcanic ash. Minerals like alumina, silica, lime, magnesia, iron oxides contained within the clay produce an abundance of healthy nutrition for our entire being.

Multani Clay is extremely absorbent.  It absorbs bacteria, toxins and reduces water loss. Therefore, it’s great for drawing dead cells and excess oils from the skin. It also stimulates circulation to the skin. The skin is then rejuvenated and becomes smooth, soft and supple.

Wash-oily-scalp-multani-clay-saba-botanical Even after thousands of years, in this era of modern technology, men and women around the globe still use this aged method for controlling excess oil in the scalp. They wash their hair and impurities are removed but the hair still retains its natural moisturizers; thus hair is left soft and radiant.

clear-acne-naturally-multani-clay-saba-botanical Multani Clay has also been used as a natural treatment for acne and even to alleviate the pain of arthritis. It can be used as a face mask or full body mask. The only caution is that the clay not be left on the skin for an excessive amount of time because it could cause over drying.

Additionally, Multani Clay can also be used in other ways and it’s extremely affordable. For instance: to strengthen fingernails, teeth and gums. We will be listing other uses on the Saba Botanical website soon.

Saba Botanical is proud to offer Multani Clay to everyone interested in experiencing the benefits for themselves. Simply contact Saba Botanical for ordering. A spa treatment for less than $5.00 per 100 gram package. (not a misprint!)

Experience the difference of the ancient marvel:  Multani Clay.
In our next post, we will share some recipes with you, using Multani clay to correct oily scalp, acne and more.

I am writing to congratulate you on a superb natural product that I will continue to use on my hair forever!!I had a horrible encounter with an over-the-counter hair dye that contained PPD. I had an emergency room visit and the fear of never being able to cover my grey. I have jet black hair and it really bothered me to not be able to have the choice of bringing back its natural color state. I then found your website and decided to try your Lustrous Henna.
Believe me- at first I was extremely scared, thinking that it would cause another horrific health event- But I did the patch test and all went well, so I applied the paste and I can't believe the results!!!!!!!!! Not only am I NOT IN FEAR OF USING YOUR PRODUCT- but my hair looks absolutely amazing!!

I can't thank you enough for creating this fantastic organic product for those of us that can't tolerate and choose not to use the toxic chemically overloaded hair dyes. I will be a customer for life and intend to spread the word!! A thousand thank you's!!!!!!!

Warmest Wishes,
Ally S.

Winter is Still Here! “Hold On to Your Hats.” Protect Your Lustrous Hair! Part 2 of 2

The same things that our skin needs are the same things our hair needs during winter:

Moisturize your skin & hair MORE OFTEN in winter. 1. Lock in that moisture.  For hair: condition daily (rinse in cooler water to seal in moisture), also use a light homemade leave-in conditioner: simply add enough water to current conditioner, mix well, spray a little in your hand and rub through hair or spritz on hair with a spray bottle; avoid cleansing shampoos that strip and cause extra dryness and frizziness. Shampoo less often with mild shampoo or try a conditioner-only wash (co-wash).

2. Keep hydrated internally. Drink plenty of water. Nourish your hair like you nourish your skin. In other words, eat a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables. This will help to keep your hair soft and lustrous.

3. Cooler Showers and Baths; Hot water in winter dries out skin and hair.

4. Sun Protection- Especially important in winter for both skin and hair. The sun can fade hair color quicker.

5. Stay protected from warm but harsh fabrics like wool. Direct contact can cause drying and hair breakage.

a. iVillage writer, Sascha Breuer, suggested the following hat idea: When you're out and about this winter, wear a hat, not only to keep you warm but also to protect your hair from the cold weather. Invest in a hat made of cashmere rather than wool, as wool is very absorbent and will suck the moisture out of your hair, leaving it dry and prone to static. Also, the raw texture of wool is harsh on your hair while cashmere will ensure that it stays looking beautifully smooth and silky when you come in from the cold.

Protect your hair in winter.
6.
You wouldn’t walk outside in winter with naked and wet skin (unless you’re a “little freaky” Polar Bear Club member), so why go outside in the middle of winter with naked and wet hair? Ice does not belong on your hair! It will snap it right off!

a. Cover your dry hair with a scarf, or hat, beret, cap that is satin or silk-lined (you can make these linings yourself or have someone else do it –sew or glue)* If you don’t like hats, try an updo, pulled back in a bun and snood or use clips to hold your hair down to protect scalp from sun.

b. Letting your hair dry naturally is best in winter. Make sure your hair is totally dry before going outside. If this is not possible, cover your hair with a hair-friendly head covering. Remove when you reach your destination and let air dry.

7. Try NOT to turn up the heat. For skin, we can add humidity to a room to avoid extreme dryness. For our hair, it’s really best to avoid heated appliances altogether if we’re willing to go that route. However, if we simply can’t deal with the results then: Use an ionizing heat appliance to reduce heat damage. Point the device away from your scalp, thus avoiding damage to the hair cuticle. Prior to drying, flat ironing or using heated rollers, etc. apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner or thermal heat protection cream to hair. Keep heat on medium to low and use a heat diffuser on blow dryers.

Men & Women need winter hair protection.

We all love our 100% natural Lustrous Henna
® locks. Now is the time to protect them-100%.

Winter is Still Here! “Hold On to Your Hats.” Protect Your Lustrous Hair! Part 1 of 2

Bundled up for winter It's still pretty cold outside and winter hair protection can prove to be a challenge, depending of course on where you live. If like me, you live in a northern part of the country that is cold and snowy in winter, then you understand. If you live in an area that is perfectly sunny and lovely all winter, then we really, really envy you… (and hate you, but only in the nicest way).

Dry indoor heat, Dry outdoor cold = Dry skin. Dry hair.
Dry! Dry! Dry!

Thinking of what winter does to our unprotected skin actually helps us to understand what it will do to our hair if we leave it unprotected during winter months. For example, our hands become extremely dry if we don’t protect them with moisturizing lotions and gloves. If fact, extreme dryness (along with subsequent problems like peeling, itching and eczema) is the number one issue we face when our skin (face, hands, feet, entire body) is not protected from the cold weather. Our hair can also suffer from extreme dryness and can become brittle, damaged, shed and break off.

By Luisa
This review is for: Lustrous Henna Mahogany - 100 Grams (Misc.)
I have been looking for this color for years. It covers gray hair with a beautiful brown-reddish color. It looks very natural! It spreads easily and has a nice smell compared to other hennas. I am so glad I finally found it!

A Little More About: Syed Abbas, Lustrous Henna® & Saba Botanical of USA

“Once I wrote the following paragraph. The more I learn about plants, the more I believe this truth:

Lustrous -Henna Clippings ‘Although we all have to live through some ailments and other health problems from time to time, nature has created a remedy for every health problem in plants; whether it is fresh produce, dried herbs, essential oils or extracts. The key to beautiful health is using pure botanical ingredients derived from nature. The concept of natural beauty incorporates a philosophy based on the mystery of the therapeutic values and vital energy of plants.’”

“I knew that there were millions of people out there that truly need a natural hypoallergenic hair dye.

One day, I met with an executive of AMA Herbal Labs with my idea for a totally all natural henna-based hair color dye that could be packaged and produced in a variety of natural shades. He said, "We would be happy to take this project," (not realizing how intricate this project would be). Within a year they produced a product which I named Lustrous Henna®. However, this initial product was no different than the weak products already selling in the health food stores.

Natural Henna Three years went by without any encouraging news. Then the second version of the product came out. The results still were not very encouraging. I was about to give up, when it finally “clicked” and they were really able to greatly improve on this product. Thus, I call this, the third generation of Lustrous Henna® that you can purchase from us now.

Lustrous Henna®
is definitely worth bragging about: it does not contain PPD, Ammonia, Peroxide or toxic chemicals. It is a 100% natural hair dye. Nature still has the answer to all our needs, as we discovered and we benefit from it.

Lustrous Henna® should be used by everyone who needs to dye their hair. It is safe and healthy.

Thank You. Thank You. THANK YOU! I am 39 and 40% grey. For years I've been killing my hair with chemical dyes that left it lifeless, dry, brassy, and recently I've come to realize, thinner. Determined to abandon chemical dyes forever, I've poured everything in my hair from sage to coffee to prune juice. Nothing has done the trick, until tonight when I used your natural Henna. It's beautiful. Gorgeous. It's my hair as it used to be. THANK YOU.
