At 7:45 pm, I started the water to boil. While waiting, I gathered my supplies* including (of course) a pack of 100% all-natural Lustrous Henna® in Soft Black. It is totally herbal and completely PPD-free, AMMONIA-free and PEROXIDE-free. The kettle was boiling around 10 minutes later. I put on a pair of gloves, wrapped a small folded paper towel around my neck, fastening it with a style drape. I have short hair, so I mixed the boiling water to only half the pack of Lustrous Henna® powder in the bowl, until it was the consistency of thick pancake batter. I let it cool until lukewarm. Next, I took a large-tooth comb and ran it under water and combed it through my hair. Why? Personally, I feel I get better coverage if my hair is damp.
Next, I divided my hair into 4 sections. I started applying the Lustrous Henna® to each section. parted with the application brush and dipped into the paste. I also used my hands for better coverage. I used a small hand mirror, along with a larger wall mirror to check on proper application. After the first two sections, my gloves got a little messy, so I put on a new pair. When my hair was completely covered, I got out my small mirror again -along with a paper towel. I then removed any stray henna that was on my ears, neck, etc. Next, I wrapped some rolled cotton around my hairline; added saran wrap around my head; finishing with a plastic cap. The time was around 8:15 pm.
I put in a movie and the rest was easy. Waited an hour. Went under the dryer for about 2 or 3 minutes. Waited 15 minutes. Went back under the dryer for another couple of minutes. Used a shampoo funnel “backwards”, so that the funnel was in front of me like an elephant’s trunk. Rinsed my hair without mess, by letting the water go directly down the drain through the funnel. Let dry. Styled.
That’s it. No more gray. I was left with only beautiful black hair -in just a couple of hours.
*Please note this is my personal method of applying Lustrous Henna® for hair. Even though most individuals would use an assistant or stylist, I am accustomed to ‘flying solo’ when naturally coloring my hair. –L.J.O’Neal

I Love Lustrous Henna. I've been meaning to write to you about your excellent product. I used Lustrous Henna this weekend and it was by far the best experience and result I've had from a henna-based product. The creamy formula was easy to apply and rinse out (unlike so many other henna products I've tried), and the color is vibrant. I achieved much better coverage of my grays than with any other product and I intend to keep on using it. Also, I'm going to bring your pamphlet to a local health food store and praise Lustrous Henna to the max! Thanks so much for a great product, Syed.
I found that with my hair I needed about 3/4 of a package for one application, and will use the remainder for touch-ups.
