Choose Hair Color to Highlight Your Natural Beauty. Part One.

What color?...What COLOR?...WHAT COLOR?! Yikes! Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today.

Need we be so dramatic? No, not really. Actually choosing a hair color using Lustrous Henna
® is fairly simple. The first step is to: Think about why you want to color your hair and what do you want to achieve. Perhaps you want to cover gray hair or are looking for a completely new look.

The second step is to seriously consider your commitment to your look. Pure henna can last usually from three weeks to two months, depending on your hair growth and the time it takes to fade.

The third step is learning how to and then selecting a color that will enhance your natural beauty. There are a lot of myths floating around about hair color and personality. However, the safest way to choose the correct color* is to think of your skin tone, eye color, natural hair color and even your hair color as a young child. Can you remember what color was reflected from sun rays on a bright summer day? These are the factors that can be extremely helpful to you today.

More on this very important third step in our next post.

*Since Lustrous Henna® is in Powder form, the powders can be mixed to create a desired shade, it is better to do a strand test. When you do a strand test make sure you document the ratios for future reference.

Dear Saba Botanical,

I have been using regular hair dyes containing PPD for years and never had a problem, then all of a sudden I had a severe allergic reaction.  I had spent several months recovering from this in and out of hospitals, on steroids, antibiotics and IV medications.
As a result from this reaction I have lost most of my beautiful black thick hair due to scar tissue left behind.
After months of my awful ordeal, being a middle aged women I began to see gray hair but knew I could never ever use hair dye again and wasn't sure what to do.  I ended up trying every kind of hair dye I could find not containing PPD. Unfortunately, nothing was covering my grays but instead always grabbing a light red tint on my black hair.

Hallelujah!  I was just about to give up after trying so many different products on- line and I found your web site containing Lustrous Henna hair color.  I only ordered one pack at the time not with high expectations but tried it out and it worked!  My grays were covered and my black hair thicker and had a beautiful shine to it.

To all the women and men allergic to hair dye and want a all natural healthy product for your hair - Looking for a solution, Please Trust Me, Lustrous Henna Rocks!

Is It REALLY Henna?

Don't Be Angry. Use Lustrous Henna Today.Several dermatogists in India, a major source of the world’s henna, are compaigning against mislabeled henna, some containing harsh chemicals. Dr. AK Bajaj, a leading dermatogist in Allahbad, is of the opinion that many patients have little knowledge about the products they’re using. He stated that, “The cheapest and most commonly used ones are the misleadly labeled, ‘black henna’ dyes that contain extremely high concentarations of P-Phenylenediamine (PPD).”

‘Mehndi’ is the Hindi word for Henna. Sadly, consumers have been fooled by the manufacturers of ‘Kali Mehndi’ or ‘Kali Black Mehndi’ (spelling variation: mehdi, mehandi, mehendi),  thinking it is free of harmful chemicals. However, ‘Kali Mehndi’ has at times up to 16% PPD, a level extremely harmful to one’s health. “’Kali Mehndi’ is different from green mehdi. There is no mehndi that is black in color. If it is black, it is always a dye.  People are unaware that this particular product is actually a dye. They believe that it is simply another form of ‘mehndi’’, stated Dr. Vinod Kumar Sood (Dermatology and Venerealogy Department, Retired Dept. Head, Dayanand Medical College).

As mentioned in the previous post, there are several other products and kits masquerading as “henna” that can be found on store shelves or online, readily available to purchase. However, as the examples above show, they are not all natural and can contain truly harmful chemicals.

Be an All Natural Beauty. Lustrous Henna. Only 6.99 per 100 gm pack.
Make sure the next time you buy henna for hair, you really know the answer to the question, “Is It REALLY Henna?”

Your henna is the best I have ever used in 10 years of searching for a natural hair coloring product. Your henna is very clean of debris, leaves and sand, because it is so finely sifted. It colors my resistant gray hairs very well. I love how smooth like pudding your henna becomes once it is mixed with water. (Other henna products that I have used in the past became like dried mud when I applied it to my hair and they are very messy!)

I also love how fast I can use your henna after I mix it with water, and I don't have to leave it on my hair for 4 hours for it to color my gray. After only 60 minutes my gray is colored!

Also my curly, kinky hair is becoming SOFTER AND SMOOTHER!!! I can straighten my hair to a silky like texture that I never achieved before, without a chemical relaxer. Now I don't have to use harmful chemical relaxers, or harmful hair dyes!

Your company also ships the henna when you say you will, in a timely manner, and I receive my products very promptly. I always had to call in the past and complain to other henna companies about where my order was.

Keep up the excellent products, and the excellent work and THANKS A MILLION!!!

An Interview: Our Perception of Gray Hair and Appearance

Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today Recently, I interviewed my husband, Victor, about his own view of gray hair, personal appearance and maturity. I admit it. His personal viewpoint surprised me.
L.J.: How do you feel about men and women coloring their gray hair?
Victor: Personally, I feel that showing gray hair as you mature is a sign of wisdom and experience. I know this is an old-fashioned viewpoint.  I think that most men and women look natural when they keep the gray and allow themselves to age gracefully. If someone decides to color their gray, I think that they should still leave a touch of gray. However, if you are prematurely gray, then coloring your hair will enhance your youthful appearance.

L.J.: Do you think the majority of Americans would agree with your viewpoint?

Victor: No. The majority of people believe that gray hair detracts from your appearance, especially for women. Everyone wants to look young for various reasons.

L.J.: Do you think that showing your grays would affect your chances of getting a job with a prospective employer?

Victor: Unfortunately, the answer is: Yes. Most companies prefer someone young and vibrant in appearance, no matter what their age.

L.J.Has Hollywood influenced our view of gray-headedness? If an actor chose not to cover their gray, how would this affect their fan base?

Victor: Hollywood has most definitely influenced us. We want to look like movie stars, no matter what our age. It appears that when an actor shows their gray, opportunities become limited. Very few actors, whether male or female, let their gray hair show. Some fear the reality of losing their fan base. Those that do, usually have vast Hollywood experience, a solid fan base and are very influential. They reach the point where they're okay with having gray hair in Hollywood.

L.J. (conclusion): Like it or not, if we want to appear younger and vibrant, keeping all the gray hair doesn't appear to be an option for most of us. Ultimately, when we look in the mirror, we should be happy with our own reflection.

Since there is a safe healthy natural coloring option available now, there is no reason stay gray and look older.

TV Actress “Very Happy” with Lustrous Henna®

TVActressNeerajaNeeraja, a prominent South Indian TV actress, suffered from premature graying. She didn’t want to use chemical-based hair color dye. The reason for this was due to the allergic reaction of several family members to permanent hair dye containing PPD. Eventually, she tried a hair color dye labeled, “Natural”, but unfortunately developed and allergic reaction to it.
She was desperate. She finally came to the conclusion that she should end her acting career and leave show business.  Fortunately for her, she shared her thoughts with her sister. Her sister recommended, Lustrous Henna®, since it was (and still is) PPD-FREE.
Neeraja didn’t immediately use it. Instead, she consulted a well-known dermatologist who recommended she use this product because it does not contain PPD.
Neeraja has used Lustrous Henna® over a year and she is still extremely satisfied. In fact, she stated that Lustrous Henna® “saved me. I’m very happy with the color and have had no problems using it.”

We invite you to share your own "very happy" experiences with us.

Permanent Hair Color Dye -A Dermatologist’s Perspective

Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today A team of prominent dermatologists at National Skin Hospital in Manimajra, India recently concluded a study of permanent hair color dye and allergy. The study found that 20% of permanent dye users develop an allergy mostly in the form of an allergic contact dermatitis –with redness and itch on the scalp, neck and face.  However, in severe cases a systemic reaction can affect skin all over the body and other organs.  Hairdressers have also been affected by hand dermatitis. The relevant allergen was identified as: Para-phenylenediamine (PPD), an active ingredient in permanent hair dyes.

Dr.VikasSharma Internationally acclaimed dermatologist, Dr. Vikas Sharma is currently Professor and Head of Dermatology Department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and past president of Indian Association of Dermatologists.  Dr. Sharma commented regarding the use of PPD in hair dye. He stated that, “the use of PPD as a hair dye is popular because it is a permanent dye that gives a natural look.  Further, PPD enables the hair to be shampooed without becoming discolored, as well as, permed to achieve waves or curls without difficulty.”
Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today The stress of modern living, a craving for “instant results”, coupled with a desire to be more fashionable and/or to cover premature gray has resulted in a host of men and women using permanent hair color dyes containing PPD.
However, the flip side of this is that a number of individuals cannot use them at all, due to sensitivity and allergic reaction. Unfortunately, some who’ve experienced extreme allergic reaction such as permanent skin depigmentation have suffered sad and even some tragic consequences. They became deeply depressed due to low-self esteem. According to some dermatologists, some patients have even committed suicide due to this seemingly desperate situation.
TLustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today Speaking of permanent chemical hair dyes, Dr. Sharma stated: “Hair-dyes have high concentration of Para-phenylenediamine  and should be avoided because when exposed to UV rays, it can induce a photo-allergic contact-dermatitis.”  Dr. Sharma recommends using PPD-FREE hair color dyes: “PPD-free dyes are the need of the hour for those sensitive to PPD.”
Lustrous Henna® fills this "need of the hour" for EVERYONE, not only those with known sensitivity to PPD. It's perfect for all men and women who desire an All Natural, PPD-FREE hair color dye. Thank you Saba Botanical.

Lustrous Henna All Natural Hair Color Dye in Powder Form. WHY?

Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today
Recent Question: Is your product only in powder form?  Is there any chance of you creating a liquid or gel form?
Syed’s Answer:
“We have in the past looked into making Lustrous Henna in cream/gel or liquid form. Unfortunately herbs used in Lustrous Henna are not stable in Liquid form for a longer period. In order for it to be stable, it has to be made in alcohol base and heavy preservatives and synthetic material needs to be added. Currently the only way we can keep this product all natural is by leaving it in powder form.”
With Kind Regards,
Syed

It is very important for us to remain green, healthy and natural. Saba Botanical emphatically is against the use of PPD and other harmful chemicals currently added to hair dye. Lustrous Henna is and always will be an all natural hair color dye. The powder is extremely easy to mix and use. There is no long waiting period for dye release, like there is with traditional henna. All of the ingredients are top quality and are known to enhance healthy hair care.

As stated on the home page of Saba Botanical of USA:

“We have formulated our products with highly effective, natural, herbal ingredients for health conscious people and people who are sensitive to harsh chemicals found in most cosmetic formulations. The most beautiful thing we have is our body and soul. Our body requires certain care and maintenance to keep looking healthy and beautiful. Although we all have to live through some ailments and other health problems from time to time, nature has created a remedy for every health problem into plants, whether it is fresh produce, dried herbs, essential oils or extracts. The key to beautiful health is using pure botanical. Rich ingredients derived from nature.”

Thanks for asking this very important question.

What do you think? Do you agree with our decision to keep Lustrous Henna all natural in a quick-mix powder, thus avoiding harmful chemicals and detriments to health?

I am writing to congratulate you on a superb natural product that I will continue to use on my hair forever!!

I had a horrible encounter with an over-the-counter hair dye that contained PPD. I had an emergency room visit and the fear of never being able to cover my grey. I have jet black hair and it really bothered me to not be able to have the choice of bringing back its natural color state. I then found your website and decided to try your Lustrous Henna. Believe me- at first I was extremely scared, thinking that it would cause another horrific health event- But I did the patch test and all went well, so I applied the paste and I can't believe the results!!!!!!!!! Not only am I NOT IN FEAR OF USING YOUR PRODUCT- but my hair looks absolutely amazing!! I can't thank you enough for creating this fantastic organic product for those of us that can't tolerate and choose not to use the toxic chemically overloaded hair dyes. I will be a customer for life and intend to spread the word!! A thousand thank you's!!!!!!!

Warmest Wishes,
Ally Shade
