Herbal Hair Benefits With Brahmi Recipes

Herbal Hair Benefits With Brahmi Recipes –by L.J. O’Neal, writer.Herbal hair benefits -Brahmi Powder

Brahmi (scientific name: Bacopa monniera) has been long used as a hair tonic to provide nourishment and vitality for radiant hair color. It improves hair care by nourishing the hair roots and scalp, it is known to reduce hair fall and premature baldness, clears dandruff from scalp, thus promoting healthy, thick and lustrous hair with virtually no side effects.
Below the history of the Bacopa monniera plant is reviewed, as well as its use in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. However, our focus is on benefits of the brahmi plant for hair. Therefore, I’m sharing a few brahmi powder recipes for hair to follow.

Brahmi (Bacopa monniera) Botany

Bacopa monniera is a perennial creeping herb that grows 1-2 feet tall that grows in wetlands, muddy shores and other marshy areas. As seen in the image, the leaves are succulent and thick. The plant contains small, white flowers with four or five petals. It can be found in the marsh in India and neighboring countries.

Medicinal Purposes of Brahmi:

Bacopa monniera (BM), a traditional Ayurvedic medicine, used for centuries as a memory enhancing, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, sedative and antiepileptic agent. The plant, plant extract and isolated bacosides (the major active principles) have been extensively investigated in several laboratories for their neuropharmacological effects and a number of reports are available confirming their nootropic action. In addition, researchers have evaluated the anti-inflammatory, cardiotonic and other pharmacological effects of BM preparations/extracts. Therefore, in view of the important activities performed by this plant, investigation must be continued in the recently observed actions described in this paper. Moreover, other clinical studies have to be encouraged, also to evidence any side effects and possible interactions between this herbal medicine and synthetic drugs.1

Brahmi Powder Recipes for Hair

Herbal Hair Benefits With Brahmi Recipes –by L.J. O’Neal, writer.
Brahmi Hair Mask

To simply mix with plain or rose water, you can use the directions located on the package of Saba’s Brahmi Powder or try this suggestion.
You’ll need:
Brahmi powder
Amla powder
Virgin coconut oil
Coconut water
  • Mix desired amount of brahmi powder* with amla powder. Add to ⅛ to ¼ cup of melted coconut oil. Add enough coconut water to make a workable paste and mix well. (The paste’s consistency should be that of pudding or yogurt).
  • Apply to dry or damp hair in sections, from root to tip; cover hair with shower cap or plastic wrap.
  • Leave paste on hair for 30-90 minutes.
  • Gently rinse thoroughly out of hair with warm water.
  • If desired, follow up with Lustrous Henna Shampoo Powder to make sure all powder has been removed from hair. Note: other shampoos might interfere with the effectiveness of this mask.

Brahmi Overnight Herbal Hair Infusion (Rinse)

An herbal hair infusion is basically a natural hair rinse created to stimulate the scalp; condition hair; restore health to damaged hair, or simply to add shine and bring out natural highlights. For this infusion, you’ll need:
Brahmi powder
Amla powder
Tulsi Powder
Neem Powder
Jar, with tight fitting lid
Protective gloves for hands
  • Before bed, in a (wide-mouthed mason jar or similar): Mix desired amount of brahmi powder with amla powder and other powders.
  • Boil water.
  • Pour boiled water over the powder mixture.  Fill jar and then tighten lid.
  • Allow the herbal powder mixture to steep/sit for 8-12 hours to create an infusion with the water. Easy way: let this sit overnight.
  • In the morning, using a fine cheesecloth/strainer: strain the powder out. (If desired, you can add a drop or two of an essential oil for natural fragrance). The remaining liquid is used as an herbal hair rinse –after- shampooing your hair. I suggest using Lustrous Henna Shampoo Powder, then follow up with this herbal hair rinse.
  • When ready to use: Pour herbal hair rinse through hair several times as you catch the liquid in a large bowl. When satisfied, rinse hair with warm water.
Note: The mixing times are only a suggestion. You can mix this hair rinse in the morning and use in the evening too.
*Brahmi powder can also be used in combination with other herbs (amla powder, bhringrai, neem, cassia, henna, tulsi and more. Remember to protect hands from potential staining by wearing protective gloves.

O’Neal, writer.Bhringraj is also one of the ingredients that Saba Botanical of USA uses in Imbue™ Natural Conditioner, as well as in Lustrous Henna® 100% natural hair dye. Bhringraj is a real benefit to the hair, from the hair shaft at the root, to the ends. No wonder the hair looks and feels radiant and luxurious with regular use, as this author as well as other customer testimonials have experienced.

Natural Hair Care: Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata)

Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata) is actually a flowering weed known for its benefits in Ayurvedic medicine. It is reported to improve hair growth and color.[1][2] A medical study…showed that petroleum ether extracts of E. prostrata decreased the amount of time it took for hair to begin regrowing and to fully regrow.
The leaf extract is considered quite beneficial for natural hair care and has been traditionally used externally on the hair shaft to stop hair loss, promote luxuriant hair growth, stop graying of hair shaft and improve hair color. It’s used as a hair tonic and hair conditioning agent.
Traditionally throughout Asian countries, Bhringraj has also been used from the hair shaft on natural hair to the tips, for preventing baldness, anti-dandruff, anti-lice and revitalizing the hair. Additionally, for centuries, the leaf juice has been boiled with sesame or coconut oil to dye natural hair black or to tattoo the skin.
In fact, the entire plant including the seeds, have been used in Ayurvedic medicine for ages. Today, around the globe, Bhringraj is proven to be effective with numerous benefits both internally and externally, for instance, to improve hair shaft condition.

Add enough yogurt and milk (approximately 50/50); mix to make a smooth paste. Apply to face and neck (avoiding eyes and mouth*). Leave on face (or body) for 15 to 30 minutes or until dry. Gently wash off with rose water.  If you don’t have rose water, then use plain water.

Important note about the fragrance of totally natural Saba’s Rose Petal Powder. It does not contain any fragrance additives. Since rose petals are dried before crushing the naturally strong aroma of a live plant is not totally retained. The product is pure, high quality and never enhanced with chemical additives to produce a stronger fragrance. Thus, the flower power remains intact.
Release the flower power of rose petal skin care to your face and body. Your glowing skin will ‘thank you’ for it.
*Should mixture come in contact with eyes and mouth arise, immediately rinse off with water.

Skin Care from the Power of Flowers -Rose Petal Powder

Skin Care from the Power of Flowers -Rose Petal Powder -by L.J. O’Neal, writer.

The Flower Power of the Rose in Skin Care

The rose is considered one of the most beautiful flowers in the world. Since earliest times, roses were important in hand lotions, cosmetics, and perfumes. Natural rose water, rose oil and rose petal has been prized for skin care since ancient times. These therapeutic properties help balance the skin with astringent and anti-bacterial, without stripping moisture from the skin. Now how’s that for flower power?

Flower Power -Rose Botany

Did you know? A rose is a woody perennial of the genus Rosa, within the family Rosaceae. There are over 100 species. They form a group of plants that can be erect shrubs, climbing or trailing with stems that are often armed with sharp prickles (or thorns). Most species are native to Asia, with smaller numbers native to Europe, North America, and northwest Africa.1

The rose is not only a symbol of love and care worldwide, but it is the national flower of the United States and other places throughout the globe.

Skin Care from the Power of Flowers -Rose Petal Powder-by L.J. O’Neal, writer. The Flower Power of Rose Petal

Rose petal is known in skin care for its soothing, healing and other therapeutic properties. It’s used in hair oils, hair pack and other conditioning treatments to soften hair.  However, in skin care, it’s mainly used in face and body masks, bath scrubs, body wash, body powder, soap and other skin care preparations. It’s inexpensive and yet includes bits of rose oil and other important elements of the rose. For centuries, rose petal has been used to help cure skin infections, inflammations and as a natural cooling agent with a soothing fragrance.

Rose Petal Powder can vary in color from dusty rose, beige or dark brown. Saba’s Rose Petal Powder is 100% pure, safe and naturally free of chemicals or pesticides. It’s suitable for skin care of all skin types. To rejuvenate, tone, soften and smooth your skin, use the following instructions in my next post about the flower power of rose petal.
