Hair Dye Warnings that Can Save Our Hair and Skin

Hair Dye Warnings that Can Save Our Hair and Skin -by L.J. O'Neal, writer.

Hair Dye Warnings Heeded

Did you know that a growing number of men and women (including a number of hair stylists) have made an important change in their hair coloring treatments. They’ve gone ‘all-natural’ and no longer use chemical hair dye. They use all natural herbal hair dye -that is free from Para-phenylenediamine (PPD), ammonia, peroxide and many other harmful chemicals. This was not an easy decision, but it was a wise one.
Now, we love our all-natural, PPD-free hair dye.  We can still enjoy looking younger using natural herbal products that won’t harm our health.

Hair Dye Warnings Ignored

With the pressure from advertising companies placing emphasis on ‘speedy beauty’, many love the addiction to favorite (chemical) hair colors, even if they’re not a perfect natural match. On the other hand, there are others out there, still not totally convinced and still straddling the fence…and still using chemical hair dye with dangerous Para-phenylenediamine (PPD). Therefore, I’m repeating a few facts about the risks you take every time you use permanent chemical hair dye.
Possible Side Effects According to the FDA, American Cancer Society, CDC, NIH, National Cancer Institute -and a plethora of other consumer organizations
  • Cause allergic reactions including redness, rashes, sores, burning sensations, itching and headaches.
  • Be a possible carcinogen after oxidation, linked to increasing the occurrence of various forms of cancer such as: non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Multiple myeloma, Breast Cancer, Leukemia, Bladder Cancer.
Additionally, a report (08/2007) from leading chemical company DuPont, regarding the dangers of para-phenylenediamine (PPD) in hair dye is well-documented in the Material Safety Data Sheet. (MSDS number: 1155CR) Unfortunately, this document is no longer available online. You must contact DuPont and request it.
See also: Facts about skin allergies from the New Zealand Dermatalogical Society, Inc.
Please give serious thought to this information about possible side effects of chemical hair dye.
Do what numerous others have done. Make the wise choice: use all-natural plant-based hair dye and be healthy and strong for yourself and especially for those you love.

Almond Oil Recipes for Hair Care

Almond Oil Recipes for Hair Care -by L.J. O'Neal, writerAlmond Oil and Hair Care Benefits

Almond oil has been used to promote thicker and longer hair growth all the way back to the ancient Egyptians. It strengthened the roots, thus strengthening growing hair; stopped hair loss; blocked dandruff; added radiant sheen and silky smoothness to the hair. Almond Oil contains fatty acids that are essential in natural hair care maintenance. It helps to grow and strengthen hair, while adding suppleness to healthy hair. Try this helpful oil in the following natural hair care recipes.

Almond Oil Recipes for Hair Care -by L.J. O'Neal, writer.Almond Oil Scalp Massage

Try a simple scalp massage with about a tablespoon of almond oil. Continue the gentle massage to ends of hair; let rest for about 15 minutes, then use cool water and rinse hair. Follow with an all natural shampoo powder. Depending on condition of hair and rate of hair growth, repeat this treatment once or twice a week.

Deep Repair Masque for Dry Hair #1

Mix a teaspoon of each: olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and 1 tablespoon of honey. Massage and smooth gently into the scalp. Do NOT comb hair with honey in it, USE YOUR HANDS to smooth.

Cover your head with shower cap; then cover with a towel to keep the heat in. Leave on for 20 minutes. Shampoo with Imbue™ Natural Shampoo or Lustrous Henna® Shampoo Powder. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Final part of rinse: use cold water for about a minute to close follicles.  Repeat this 3-4 times a week. This treatment will encourage hair growth by strengthening the hair follicle; reconstruct, moisturize, soften hair and remove frizz.

Deep Repair Masque for Dry Hair #2

Make a paste by mixing:

2 egg yolks, 1 tsp. olive oil, 1 tsp. almond oil, 2 tsp. brandy,  2 tbsp. each of AmlaReetha and Shikakai powder. Enough water to make paste.

Gently part hair and massage mixture on the scalp, first, then throughout hair. Cover your head with shower cap; then cover with a towel to keep the heat in. Leave on for 30 minutes. Shampoo with Imbue™ Natural Shampoo. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Final part of rinse: use cold water for about a minute to close follicles. To encourage hair growth, repeat treatment 2-3 times a week, as needed.

Almond oil is easy to apply, and most likely, can be found right on your kitchen pantry shelves. When used along with other natural botanical powders, it can make a real difference in your rate of hair growth in just a few short months. You’ll love the results of proper hair care.

Aloe Vera Plant Benefits for Healthy Hair

Aloe Vera Plant Benefits for Healthy Hair -by L.J. O'Neal, writer.

Aloe Vera Plant Promotes Healthy Hair Growth

Are you worried by hair fall or hair loss? Aloe Vera is an excellent treatment for hair loss because the plant itself closely matches our own body’s biochemistry, containing many of the same vitamins and minerals that make up our own bodies. It strengthens, adds a healthy radiance and shine to hair.
The aloe vera plant contains many healthy hair benefits especially when combined with wheat germ oil and almond oil, added to Bhringraj. This mixture* helps to moisturize, nourish and revitalize your hair and scalp. If you suffer hair fall or hair thinning, then regular use of this healthy hair conditioner will help to stop hair fall or hair loss; thus promoting hair growth. Without question, Aloe Vera provides great benefits for hair loss or hair fall.

Aloe Vera Plant Additional Benefits

The Aloe Vera plant is a flowering plant with a long history of medicinal treatments for skin problems. It has been called “the lily of the desert” and “the plant of immortality”.  Its medicinal and healing properties have been known for over 4000 years. The Aloe Vera plant was used by ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Chinese civilizations. Cleopatra used it to purify her skin. Alexander the Great used it for his soldiers’ wounds.
As a topical medicinal treatment, Aloe Vera extracts have antibacterial and antifungal properties that may help in the treatment of skin infections and inhibit the growth of fungi. Additionally, it's a natural moisturizer that soothes the skin, eliminating the risk of flaky scalp (dandruff) and flaky skin in harsh and dry weather.

Aloe Vera ‘Product’ Warning

It’s fairly common knowledge that the Aloe Vera plant is a stemless or very short-stemmed succulent plant with yellow flowers, growing to 24–39 in tall. The small serrated leaves are thick and fleshy, green to grey-green, with some varieties showing white flecks on the upper and lower stem surfaces. The beautiful yellow flowers are produced in summer on a spike up to 35 in tall. It grows in arid climates and is widely distributed in Africa, India and other arid areas.
When we think of today’s Aloe Vera products, it seems that the words “Aloe Vera” on its packaging instantly mean that the product is healthy and beneficial. The sage counsel to “Let the Buyer Beware” should definitely be applied when we’re searching for pure Aloe Vera or natural products containing pure Aloe Vera.  We need to be especially careful and read the ingredient labels. We might be surprised to find out that many of these products contain harmful chemicals.
An example:  One well-known company claims to sell 100% Aloe Vera Gel.  However, after reading the ingredient label, you might be shocked to see that it is not 100% Aloe Vera Gel at all, but : “(an ‘earthy’ name) Aloe Vera, 100% Gel.” Does this make a difference? You bet it does. The ‘100% Gel’ is not pure Aloe Vera gel, but a chemical gel that contains some Aloe Vera and many other harmful chemical additives. One ingredient was even banned in Europe for being a known carcinogen!
Please heed the warnings and know the company you’re dealing with. Visit their website and get to know their natural product lines. As you regularly use truly natural products with pure Aloe Vera, your hair loss or hair fall will disappear. Your radiant hair and supple skin will reflect naturally healthy results.

Natural Hair Remedy for Hair Dye Allergy? Stop Searching.

Natural Hair Remedy for Hair Dye Allergy-Stop Searching. -L.J.O'Neal, writer.A Natural Hair Remedy for Hair Dye Allergy.

The Search Begins…
Syed was in his early twenties when premature gray hair appeared and he believed that it was hurting his image. In his attempt to preserve his youthful appearance, he started covering his gray with chemical hair dye. Unfortunately, his didn’t realize how much of a struggle that decision would prove to be.
After a couple years of use he started to experience allergic reactions to the chemical hair dye. He was left with an intensely itchy, red and irritated scalp. Even with so-called ‘mild’ hair dye, the problem worsened. He was left with thinning hair and bald spots. His thick hair was gone and he was left with now a head of thin, gray hair.
Eventually, following a friend’s advice, he decided to use what he thought was an all-natural hair dye product, "black henna" also called Kali Mendhi (Hindi translation for black henna). The result was a nightmare! It ended with a trip to the Emergency Room: Blisters all over his scalp and sideburns, a swollen face and his eyes were almost sealed shut. He later found out that the hair dye, Kali Mendhi black henna, contained paraphenylenediamine (PPD). The reason for the adverse reaction uncovered! The quest continued to find an all natural hair dye that was free of ammonia, peroxide, PPD and similar chemicals.
His quest finally led him to the natural remedy for hair dye allergy was found: pure henna. Syed started using pure henna to cover his gray. The result was that his hair and scalp was revitalized. However, there was one big negative. His hair was now a bright (and a little scary) reddish-orange color. All he ever wanted was his black hair back, naturally.

Syed Abbas. Natural Hair Remedy for Hair Dye Allergy? Stop Searching. -L.J.O'Neal, writer.Natural Hair Remedy for Hair Dye Allergy: Success!

Syed soon learned that there is nothing that grows in nature, that instantly gives a black color to hair. Therefore, if he couldn't find the natural hair dye he was looking for -he would have to find a way to create it  himself using NATURE. His brainchild of developing a totally natural hair dye came to fruition after several years of research.
He worked in collaboration with the AMA Herbal Company of India who had only worked with natural dyes for textiles, previously.  A revolutionary 100% natural hair dye that does not contain toxic chemicals was soon realized. Syed and his team also created an application process that is safe, healthy and very easy to use. Just mix and apply. No need to wait for countless hours. Results are much quicker than traditional henna that involves several hours to complete.

Natural Hair Loves Flower Power -Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata)

Natural Hair Loves Flower Power -Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata). by L.J. O'Neal, writer.

Natural Hair Flower Power: Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata)

Scientific name: Eclipta prostrata (syn. Eclipta alba) commonly known as false daisy, yerba de tago, and bhringraj, is a species of plant in the family Asteraceae. This plant has cylindrical, grayish roots. The solitary flower heads are 6–8 mm in diameter, with white florets. The achenes are compressed and narrowly winged. This species grows on the foot hills of Northern India as well as moist places as a flowering weed in warm temperate to tropical areas worldwide. It is widely distributed throughout India, China, Thailand, and Brazil.*

Flower Power for Natural Hair Care: Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata)

Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata) is actually a flowering weed known for its benefits in Ayurvedic medicine. It is reported to improve hair growth and color.[1][2] A medical study…showed that petroleum ether extracts of E. prostrata decreased the amount of time it took for hair to begin regrowing and to fully regrow.

The leaf extract is considered quite beneficial for natural hair care and has been traditionally used externally on the hair shaft to stop hair loss, promote luxuriant hair growth, stop graying of hair shaft and improve hair color. It’s used as a hair tonic and hair conditioning agent.

Traditionally throughout Asian countries, Bhringraj has also been used from the hair shaft on natural hair to the tips, for preventing baldness, anti-dandruff, anti-lice and revitalizing the hair. Additionally, for centuries, the leaf juice has been boiled with sesame or coconut oil to dye natural hair black or to tattoo the skin.

In fact, the entire plant including the seeds, have been used in Ayurvedic medicine for ages. Today, around the globe, Bhringraj is proven to be effective with numerous benefits both internally and externally, for instance, to improve hair shaft condition.

In fact, I regularly use Imbue™ Natural Conditioner as a co-wash (Conditioner-Only Wash. My hair loss has stopped; former thin spots have completely disappeared and my hair growth is increasing! Personally, I highly recommend these natural hair products for anyone with hair loss or hair growth troubles.

'BLACK HENNA' -a Hair dye Warning and Reminder

BEWARE: 'Black Henna' Hair Dye is a Misnomer
'Black Henna' hair dye is not pure, nor is it pure henna. Pure henna is a green plant (Lawsonia inermis)and the green leaves are dried, crushed and powdered. When used alone it will turn the hair an orange-red color. If it is properly used with pure indigo, the hair will dye to black.  If it is mixed with a very toxic chemical called, para-phenylenediamine (PPD), “coal tar”, it can lead to dangerous consequences.

The following product example highlighted in yellow, is NOT and NEVER WILL BE, a product from Saba Botanical of USA.
An AD EXAMPLE:
SOUNDS GREAT, BUT it’s DANGEROUS

'BLACK HENNA' -a Hair dye Warning and Reminder, by L.J. O’Neal, writer.Don't be fooled by a pretty picture. Carefully peruse the following advertisement from a ‘Natural’ Hair Dye Company:
Black Henna Hair Color*
“We are engaged in offering comprehensive range of Black Henna Hair Oil that is manufactured using extreme quality of natural herbs as a raw material. These are renewed for excellent results like soft black colored hair, shiny, fragrance, easy to use and many more. We export these Black Henna dyes in various parts of the world at competitive prices.”
“Several ingredients used in black henna are as follows:
  • Henna (Lawsonia Inermus )
  • Amla (Emblica Officinalis)
  • Shikakai (Acacia Concinna)
  • Para Phenylenediamine
  • Barium Peroxide
  • Citric Acid
  • Magnesium Carbonate”
Did you note that natural plants are mixed with dangerous chemicals in this hair dye? However, this hair dye is still being sold as being an “extreme quality of natural herbs as a raw material”? Do you see how an unaware consumer can be lead astray and sucked into purchasing this unhealthy hair dye?
Let the buyer BEWARE –before they buy!

REMINDER: When deciding on what natural products to buy, get to know the company that you’re dealing with and its reputation; as well as the reputation of its products. It’s far better to be safe, than to suffer by being misinformed.
