Natural Hair Clients Need Safer Alternative to Chemical Hair Dye.

A Henna Hair Dye – that Conditions Natural Hair.

Did you know that the natural hair dye, Lustrous Henna®, is actually the brainchild of Mr. Syed Abbas? Krista loves Lustrous Henna!
Due to severe allergic reaction to conventional hair dye containing para-phenylenediamine (PPD), he decided to act upon his research and team with botanical scientists from India for an all-natural solution for covering gray hair with ancient plants. Dry shampoo has a number of benefits for those who suffer from oily scalp and need to wash their hair more frequently, which isn’t always convenient with today’s hectic schedules. If you really want a dry shampoo that has been used for centuries and is very inexpensive, try  Multani Mitti Clay Powder (Fullers Earth) sold at Saba Botanical of USA. Simply part hair; apply a small amount; brush through hair, then brush out vigorously.
However, dry shampoo is not a substitute for a regular hair washing and conditioning.

True or False -More Hair Stories.

Brush HairTrue or False Hair Care: You should brush your hair 100 strokes every day.
False.  Brush hair lightly, only to style it, because brushing pulls hairs out of their follicles and possibly weakens individual strands.

True or False Hair Care:
Rinsing with ice-cold water after a shampoo will give you shinier hair.

False. It might wake you up, but a dousing of cold water will have no effect on the shininess of your tresses.

True or False Hair Care:
Some hairstyles can cause hair fall.

True. Styles that put too much tension on hair – such as tight plaits, ponytails, cornrows or winding too tightly onto rollers (especially heated rollers) – can cause some hair loss.

True or False Hair Loss Stories

Stress will make your hair fall out.
True. Stress reduces blood circulation at the scalp and a healthy scalp needs blood flow. Garlic-herb-steak

My hair will fall out if I eat too much steak.

False. There is no link with hair loss and consumption of red meats, such as steak. Seriously?! What kind of hair care is this???

A problem with your thyroid cause you to lose handfuls of hair at a time.

True. Either an under-active or over-active thyroid can cause one to lose hair. Check with your internist or endocrinologist to be sure your thyroid levels are where they need to be.

Wigs and toupees can make hair loss worse.

False. Hair doesn’t need to breathe. Only the roots are alive, and they get their oxygen from the blood in the scalp. Wigs and hairpieces only damage hair if they are too tight.

Hair dyes can cause hair loss.

True. Most hair-coloring treatments contain chemicals that, if not properly used, are harmful to hair. Use all natural plant-based hair dye.
Stress can cause hair loss.

True. Stressful episodes, such as an accident or surgery, can cause hair production to shut down temporarily. However, stress does not cause male-pattern baldness.

Hormone problems can cause hair loss.

True. Problems with your thyroid gland can cause hair loss. Women may have short-term hair loss shortly after pregnancy.

Steroids can cause hair loss.

True. Steroid use can cause hair loss. Research has proven that anabolic steroids increase the levels of male hormones that induce baldness.

Blow drying doesn't cause permanent hair loss.

True. Blow drying can damage, burn or dry the hair, which can cause it to fall out, but this hair will grow back immediately. It is not considered to be permanent hair loss.

True or False. Hair Stories, What Do You Think?

full moonTrue or False Hair Care:  Cutting your hair can help prevent hair loss.

False: Hair feels thicker after a haircut because hair is thicker at the base. Cutting your hair will not help to prevent male- or female-pattern baldness.  Shorter hair often looks and feels thicker but cutting your hair won’t alter its normal biologically determined growth rate or overall texture.

True or False Hair Care:  Cutting Hair during a Full Moon Will Speed Up the Growing Process

False: Some astrology followers believe that cutting your hair during the new moon or the first phase of the moon, when the light is increasing, will make hair grow back faster. It won't. This might be psychological.

split ends
True or False Hair Care:  Split Ends Can Be Repaired Without Cutting

Seems true, but in fact the answer is: false. There are products containing silicone that can bind together split ends, however, when the product is washed out of hair, the splits ends “return”. The only real cure for split ends is to cut the hair.

True or False Hair Care:  Shampooing Every Day Keeps Hair Clean and Healthy

False: Only very oily hair needs a daily washing; everyone else should find a way to refresh their style in between shampooing to avoid depriving your ends of vital oils. Try rinsing and conditioning (co-wash) every other day instead of shampooing daily.

head stand
True or False Hair Loss:  Standing on Your Head Makes Your Hair Grow Faster

True: Getting more blood flow to your scalp is always good, but it might be more easily achieved by massaging the scalp. Why risk falling?

True or False Hair Loss:  Men’s’ Hair Grows Faster than Women’s’ Hair

False: There is no evidence to suggest a difference in the rate of hair growth between men and women.

True or False Hair Loss:  If You Leave Your Hair Alone It Will Grow Faster

False. If you don’t do anything at all to your hair it tends to become weak and dry. Hair needs to stay hydrated to be healthy, so this means drinking plenty of water and using a deep conditioner every so often to help lock that moisture in your hair. This will help with frizz, tangles and hair loss as well.

Allergic Reaction to Hair Dye -Risk Increases with Each Use.

Allergic Reaction to Chemical Hair Dye –Heed the Warnings

Tabitha. Chemical Hair Dye Victim.
Tabatha McCourt collapsed 20 minutes after dying her hair and tragically died in hospital.
“Tabatha was rushed to hospital and later died. The exact cause of her death is not known, but medics are investigating whether it might have been due to a severe allergic reaction to a chemical used in 99 per cent of all hair-dyes: PPD or p-Phenylenediamine.

This chemical fixes dye permanently into the hair so it doesn’t wash out — and it is causing increasing concern, with some experts now calling for an outright ban.

In our quest for eternal youth and glamour, hair-dyes have become big business. Every year, we have more than 45 million salon treatments in the UK, while chemists and supermarkets sell at least 50 million boxes of hair colour.

But with this rise in demand comes an increase in the number of people prone to side-effects — some of them deadly. In January, Mariade Kelly, 29, ended up in a hospital high-dependency unit after suffering a severe reaction to PPD. She had decided to dye her hair black.”

*
Next time you pick up a bottle of hair dye, think of the possible allergic reaction you risk with each use of chemical hair dye.
Allergic Reaction to Chemical Hair Dye –On the Increase

"Although full-blown allergies to PPD are rare- affecting around one in 250,000 people- trichologist Iain Sallis says the problems is that you can never tell when you might develop one. 'Even if you have coloured your hair 100 times before, you can become allergic at any time,' he warns.

Hair-dye manufacturers say nobody should use their products without undergoing a patch test first — applying a small amount of dye to a patch of skin for 48 hours. But these tests are not fail-safe.”

*
Hopefully, you will reach for an alternative to chemical hair dye in the form of a natural powder:

Hair Shaft Defect -Is It Preventable?

skin-layers-hair-compositionHair Shaft Defined

Simply stated, according to Stedman’s Medical Dictionary:
  1. The non-growing portion of a hair that protrudes from the skin, from the follicle.
Additionally:
  • The hair shaft “is a unique structure composed of an inner cortex and a protective outer cuticle.”
  • The hair shaft grows from germinative cells in the hair bulb deep within the dermis.

Hair-shaft2Hair Shaft Defect, What is it?

Dermatological research* states that: A hair shaft defect is any structural abnormality of the hair shaft. Some hair shaft defects are easily diagnosed with the naked eye, others may require microscopic examination. Hair shaft defects may result in:
  • No visible hair abnormality
  • Hair loss (alopecia)
  • Coarse or frizzy hair
  • Un-combable hair – when disordered hair bundles grow in all directions and cannot be arranged by combing
  • Fragile hair – hair shafts with reduced tensile strength. A gentle pull of several hair shafts will help determine if the hair is abnormally fragile.

Hair Shaft Defect, What Causes it?

Hair shaft defects may be due to external injury or rare genetic abnormality that can lead to hair loss.

SadwomanshorthairExternal injury to hair shaft:

Repeated physical injury is the most common cause of increased hair loss and fragility. This may be due to:
  • Excessive grooming
  • Traction from braiding or tight pony tail
  • Heat from a hair dryer
Chemical injury may be caused by:
  • Perming Solutions
  • Relaxers
  • Chemical Dyes
As noted previously, external injury is more common. Hair loss is preventable with proper hair care. Therefore, it is imperative to start a healthy hair care program immediately and protect your hair shaft. A visit to a dermatologist should be scheduled to make sure that your hair loss is not the result of a more serious medical condition.

Hair Follicle Defined, Myth vs. Fact

Hair follicle_skin_www.sababotanical.comThe Hair Follicle. What Is It?

Hair follicle: A sac from which a hair grows and into which the sebaceous (oil) glands  o pen. The follicle is lined by ce lls derived from the epidermal (outside) layer of the skin.

Each follicle normally goes through a five-year cycle of growth and rest, with about 90% of the follicles growing hair at any one time, averaging about six inches (15 cm) of growth per year. Derived from the Latin word follis, for bag.*

man_wearing_cowboy_hat_www.sababotanical.comHair Follicle Facts and Myths

Many folks use the term “hair follicle” or “follicle” to describe something entirely different. For example, Rinsing hair in cold water closes the cuticle layer of the hair and this (not the follicle) makes the hair reflect light.

Myth: Plucking Your Gray Hair Will Cause Lots More to Grow

Fact: Plucking gray hair will damage the papilla (not the follicle) and after repeated plucking, the hair will stop growing in that spot. Therefore, plucking gray hair over and over can cause serious infection and scarring. Better to cover gray hair naturally, instead of plucking it and causing hair loss.

Myth: Wearing a Hat will Strain the Hair Follicle Causing Hair Loss
young-man-fedora_www.sababotanical.com

A properly fitted hat or cap will not cause hair loss or cause harm to the hair follicle.
However, constantly wearing a tight hat can cause thinning, pull hair out and leading to permanent hair loss around hairline. Wearing a dirty hat can cause a scalp infection that can result in hair loss.

Therefore, wear a clean, proper fitting hat or cap and your hair will remain on your head.

A Real Testimonial

"Love your product! I am 85% grey and ordered the Henna Soft Black along with the Indigo. I used three parts of Henna Soft Black and one part of Indigo. I love the results. I got a very dark brown to black color hair which was exactly what I was looking for.

I used chemical dyes two or three times and developed severe reactions to the chemicals used in those products. With the Henna Soft Black and Indigo I just get great looking hair with no reactions. Would recommend to anyone looking for natural products".
