The Power of the Flower: Acacia Catechu (Katha, Khair)

www.SabaBotanical.com All-Natural Lustrous Henna® is a True Echo-Friendly Hair Dye. A real product of Mother Earth.

Acacia catechu is just one of the natural botanicals that make up some shades of Lustrous Henna®. What can we learn about this age-old flowering tree?

About Acacia Catechu

It’s synonyms are varied: Catechu, Cutch, Katha, Khair and more, depending on the use of different parts of the tree. The tree is found in the forests of India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and other Asian countries. According to the World Agro Forestry Centre, “Acacia catechu is a small or medium-sized, thorny tree up to 15 m tall; bark dark grey or greyish-brown, peeling off in long strips, or sometimes in narrow rectangular plates, brown or red inside.”* www.sababotanical.com

The flowers are long spikes with color of white to pale yellow, numerous stamens. The fruit is contained within a strap-shaped pod tapering at both ends.
“In India, three varieties, namely: var. catechu, var. catechuoides and var sundra are recognized. The generic name, ‘acacia’, comes from the Greek word ‘akis’, meaning a point or a barb. The species name comes from 'cutch', a tanning extract isolated from its heartwood.”**

Acacia Catechu Growing Season

Acacia catechu leaves are shed around February and new leaves appear near the end of April or May. The flowers appear when the new leaves appear and flowering continues until July or August. Pods rapidly develop and are full-size by September or October. They ripen from November to early January.

Acacia Catechu Cultivation History

Throughout the country of India, the use of Acacia catechu as a tanning agent goes back centuries. It was called, ‘cacho’ in a European writing in AD 1514 where it was mentioned as being exported from Cambay to Malacca. In the 17th century it was used in Europe and by the early 19th century, France imported it for commercial use.

www.sababotanical.com Acacia Catechu Common Uses:

There are numerous uses for Acacia catechu, however, we’ll focus on what’s pertinent to our orverall theme. A substance called cutch is extracted from the bark and is used for extracting color and dyeing textiles as well as coloring hair. Catechu extract is also used to dye textiles such as silk, cotton, canvas, paper and leather to a dark-brownish color.

Lustrous Henna® is An All-Natural Hair Color for Dying Hair

Depending on the color shade, Lustrous Henna® contains pure, highly-sifted herbal henna, indigo leaf powder and other herbal extracts and powders. Dark hair colors are achieved naturally, resulting in excellent black hair color, dark brown hair color, brown hair color and many more, along with excellent gray hair coverage.

Human Hair and So It Grows

www.SabaBotanical.com We often talk about our natural botanical products, used for centuries for hair growth and also the importance of have a regular hair care routine. However, have you ever wondered just how does hair grow?

The 3 Phases of Our Hair Growth

All human hair growth follows a specific cycle of three phases: 1.) the anagen or growth phase. 2.) the catagen or regressing phase and 3.) the telogen or resting phase. Each phase has several sub-phases. The actual time these phases last, varies from person to person. Different hair color and follicle shape affects the timings of these phases. Let’s discuss the hair follicle.*

Hair Follicle Formation

Hair follicle formation takes place before the start of the hair growth cycle. A shedding exogen phase occurs apart from the three phases previously mentioned. During this phase, one of several hairs from a single follicle may exit.

www.SabaBotanical.com Anagen Phase

Most of the time, 90% of hair follicles are in the anagen or active growth phase. During this period, the cells in the hair root are rapidly dividing, adding to the hair shaft. The hair grows about one-half inch every 28 days. The scalp’s active growth phase lasts for 2-7 years. Genetic play a huge part in determining how long this stage will last.

Catagen Phase

When the anagen phase ends, the follicle then starts the catagen or regressing phase. This is a transitional stage that signals the end of the active growth of the hair follicle. Usually, about 10-14% of hair follicles are in the catagen phase. This phase lasts approximately 2-3 weeks, while a club hair is formed.

Telogen Phase

Normally, only 1-2% of hair follicles are in the telogen or resting phase. This phase lasts approximately 3 months. When a club hair is formed, this signals the end of the telogen phase. Club hair is a dead, fully keratinized hair. About 51-100 club hairs are shed daily from a normal healthy scalp.

Beauty Has No Age Limit- Use All-Natural Hair Color Dye to Enhance Your Beauty.

www.sababotanical.com/ Ancient Women of Beauty Used Natural Hair Color Dye

There was nothing else. Yet, women like Cleopatra and Nefertiti were esteemed for their natural beauty and their hair dyed naturally from ancient plant dyes. Today, Lustrous Henna® 100% Natural Hair Color Dye is plant-based and is the safe alternative to harsh chemical dyes.

Many women (and men) have turned to a new source of gray hair coverage that is totally natural. A growing number of hair stylists and entire salons are slowly recognizing the real need for completely herbal hair color dye for their clients.

The Endless Quest for Beauty from a Bottle

Unfortunately this quest for quick beauty has resulted in various dermatological health risks. Synthetic hair dye is filled with a host of detrimental ingredients such as, p-phenylediamine (PPD), ammonia, peroxide and more. These ingredients are known to be the leading causes of skin allergy to the scalp and other areas. They have also been linked to cancer by researchers and physicians.

www.sababotanical.com/ The Modern Quest for Ancient Beauty from a Powder

Saba Botanical of USA is very proud to have teamed up with an herbal research team from India that resulted in the end of a modern-day quest for a totally herbal hair color dye –with a difference. Lustrous Henna® 100% Natural Hair Color Dye not only contains natural vegetation to color hair and cover gray but also contains other ancient ingredients that actually have been used for centuries to nourish, condition and strengthen hair. Your hair really does become “lustrous” as a result of regular use.

Become an All-Natural Hair Color Beauty. Use Lustrous Henna®.

=====================================================================
www.sababotanical.com/ “I was so excited to try out this henna dye! But so nervous at the same time! I have never dyed my hair before and I decided to go with the Lustrous Henna® Mahogany to give my hair a little red touch!

Thanks to my husband's help, it was really easy to do and took about a couple hours to complete the whole process. I loved that I could do it in the comfort and privacy of my own home and watch TV at the same time! It made the time go by really fast!

It was also great to know I got a beautiful color but without all the harmful ingredients! The color came out pretty red at first but it eventually blended in and looked gorgeous! I love my new hair color and I can't wait to buy a different color next time! I recommend Saba Botanical Lustrous Henna Hair Color for all men and women who either want to cover grays or just want a new hair color/change like me! The colors are gorgeous, don't dry your hair out, and are safe for everyone to use!”

The Power of the Flower: Mung Bean (Phaseolus Aureus). Thicker Hair and Lustrous Henna® Shampoo Powder.

www.SabaBotanical.com Reduce Hair Fall, Eliminate Dandruff and Thicken Hair

Recently, I was reading the experience of a woman that lived literally across the globe who experienced excessive hair loss. The solution to her problem came in the form of a flowering plant, traditionally ingested for its numerous benefits to skin, internal organs and of course, hair condition. To improve the thickness of the hair, it has also been used as a shampoo. Following the advice of a friend, she used this as a remedy for her hair thinning and hair loss. After just one month of daily shampooing, she found results the results she was searching for: no more hair loss -using mung beans.

www.SabaBotanical.com About Phaseolus Aureus (Mung Bean)

The mung bean is one of many species recently moved from the genus Phaseolus to Vigna, and is still often seen cited as Phaseolus aureus or Phaseolus radiatus. The Mung bean, also known as green bean, mung, mongo, moong, moog (whole) or moog, mash bean, munggo or monggo, green gram, golden gram, and green soy, is the seed of Vigna radiata. The split bean is green with the husk, and yellow when dehusked. The beans are small, ovoid in shape, and green in color. The English word "mung" derives from the Hindi: mung.

The mung bean contains anti-oxidants and vitamin E. As a beauty treatment, it’s been used to smooth skin, stop acne and blackheads, body slimming and -to fertilize hair. Traditionally throughout Asia, pregnant mothers have comsumed mung bean because it is believed to ensure that the baby will have thick hair. This is due to the fact that body and hair cells depend on good nutrients, like the rich protein and vitamin B1 found in mung bean, as well as calcium and phosphorus for strong bones.

Wondering where you can find mung bean, ready to use in combination with other flowering plants known to improve hair condition and radiance? No need to hunt and search very far for this ancient hair thickener. Simply pick up a package of Lustrous Henna® Shampoo Powder. It not only contains the powerful benefits of this amazing botanical, but Lustrous Henna® Shampoo Powder also includes other totally natural hair-enriching conditioners, as well.

Dear Syed,
Last week during a phone conversation, you helped me choose the proper color of "Lustrous Henna". I received it in a very timely manner and applied it last night. This was the first time I attempted to color my hair myself and was very nervous:)...however, I am very happy to say that I'm THRILLED with the results!!! While I was about 40% gray, I got great coverage and am confident that another application next week will take care of the few remaining gray hairs:) The color is so natural looking, and the highlights that run throughout my hair are very pretty.
Thank you so much for your help and kindness when we spoke, it was very much appreciated. I know I'll be a customer of "Lustrous Henna" for many years to come, and will definitely spread the word to friends and family members!
Sincerely, Rosalie

Are You Using Chemical Hair Dye to Color Your Child’s Hair?

www.SabaBotanical.com Synthetic Hair Dye for Children and Pre-Teens: A Serious Concern

Years ago, you might have thought the above question to be ridiculous. Why even ask it? Nowadays, the question deserves an answer. We hope the answer is, “No”. However, nowadays, there is a growing trend of dying children’s hair and using harsh synthetic dyes to do so. Parents, please take heed to the following warning:

www.SabaBotanical.com Chemical Hair Dye Use Can Cause Severe Allergy

According to numerous dermatological and other medical reports hair dye allergy is on the rise. An article in the British Medical Journal* reported that in Japan, Denmark and USA, hair color use has increased among male and female youth. “Severe hair dye reactions among children have recently been reported.”

According to the FDA, adults using chemical hair dyes have suffered serious problems such as: hair loss, burning, redness, itchy or raw skin, swelling in the face, trouble breathing, permanent scarring and more. There also have been several young dematological patients that have suffered terrible skin reactions from chemical hair color dyes containing harsh ingredients such as Para-Phenylenediamine (PPD), coal tar, peroxide, ammonia and much more. There are also studies that link prolonged use of such dyes to cancer.

Dear Saba Botanical, I have had many bouts of severe allergies to chemical dyes, with infections, my hair falling out ,skin off my scalp and severe rashes and skin infections. After several doctors and skin specialists diagnosing me with everything from scabies to excema, I finally had skin tests which showed an allergy to PPD's in hair dye.

I have done a patch test and strand test and have successfully coloured my hair using Lustrous henna. I am over the moon with the results and can't thank you enough for the discovery that I made of your website when I was searching for alternatives. I've tried other Hennas with no great effect , messy and leaving a red tinge. Your product is brilliant to assemble, easy to use and with fantastic results.

THANK YOU so much, I appreciate all the info on your website and will definitely be ordering your other products as well. I'm sure more people in Australia should know of your product, I'll be spreading the word for sure. Thanks again, Ingrid, Australia
