The Power of the Flower: Kariyat

Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today. Flowers all over the world have been known to possess medicinal powers since ancient times. We have discussed the healthful properties of pure henna many times on our blog and why is it frequently recommended by dermatologists as an alternative to using chemical hair color dye. However, to underscore the fact that many natural flowering plants can still contribute to our well-being, in varying posts, let’s consider a few flowers of India and their medicinal attributes.
Kariyat
Botanical name: Andrographis paniculata. Hindi Name: Kariyat, Kalpanath. Common Name in English: Green chirayta, creat, king of bitters, andrographis, India Echinacea
Kariyat is an annual herb with an extremely bitter taste in every part of the plant. It is also known as ‘Maha-tita’, meaning literally ‘king of bitters’. In fact, it is one of the most bitter plants used in traditional medicine. It grows to a height of one to four feet in moist shady places. It has smooth leaves and white flowers with rose-purple spots on the petals.
Since ancient times, it has been used to boost the immune system. The extract has also been used to dry nasal passages of cold sufferers. It also is believed to possess the following properties: antibiotic, antimalarial, antihepatatic, antithrombogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-snake venom and antipyretic. Additionally, in Siddha medicine, it is widely used, traditionally to treat chikenguinea, swine-flu and typhoid fevers.
This is just one flower with lots of power. Consider another one: pure henna for hair. Receive healthy natural dying power with Lustrous Henna. Totally natural and totally safe to use for all men and women.

Thank you for this excellent product.  I have been using henna for years, as I have a severe allergy to hair dye.  I have never had such good coverage and had the color last for so long. Because the texture of the henna is creamier, it is easier to use and less messy.  I get complimented on my hair color frequently.
Thanks again,
Debra

Hair Loss Awareness: Avoid Scalp Damage

Hairdresser-mixing-chemical dye Permanent hair color dye products containing para-phenylenediamene (PPD), combinations of hydrogen peroxide and ammonia, as well as other chemical ingredients have proven to be extremely harmful to one’s health; especially through overuse. Unfortunately, synthetic hair dyes have cause major damage to the scalp, resulting in hair loss.

Why can hair loss occur after using permanent hair dyes? Permanent hair dye penetrates the cuticle of the hair, damaging it. The hair is exposed to hydrogen peroxide and ammonia, causing overlapping of cuticular seates to lift from the hair cortex, thereby leading to rapid loss of amino acid. By removing the proteins that build the structural strength, the hair shaft is weakened. The chemical damage results in an easily fractured hair shaft and eventual hair loss.

Hairdresser-applying-synthetic dyeProblems associated with chemical hair color dyes:
  • Dull, brittle, unmanageable hair; cosmetically unacceptable.
  • Irreversible damage to the protein structure and fracture of the hair shaft.
  • Epidermal type of melasma on the forehead and neck; black circle around the eyes due to sun sensitization of the skin.

Dermatologists want potential patients to be aware of the risks involved in using chemical hair dye. Since the damage can be irreversible, why risk it? Use what many dermatologists recommend: pure, all-natural henna for hair.

    Dear Saba Botanical,
I have been using regular hair dyes containing PPD for years and never had a problem, then all of a sudden I had a severe allergic reaction.  I had spent several months recovering from this in and out of hospitals, on steroids, antibiotics and IV medications.
As a result from this reaction I have lost most of my beautiful black thick hair due to scar tissue left behind.
After months of my awful ordeal, being a middle aged women I began to see gray hair but knew I could never ever use hair dye again and wasn't sure what to do.  I ended up trying every kind of hair dye I could find not containing PPD. Unfortunately, nothing was covering my grays but instead always grabbing a light red tint on my black hair.

Hallelujah!  I was just about to give up after trying so many different products on- line and I found your web site containing Lustrous Henna hair color.  I only ordered one pack at the time not with high expectations but tried it out and it worked!  My grays were covered and my black hair thicker and had a beautiful shine to it.

To all the women and men allergic to hair dye and want a all natural healthy product for your hair - Looking for a solution, Please Trust Me, Lustrous Henna Rocks!

Hair Loss Awareness: “One Ounce of Prevention”

Prevent Hairloss Countless men and women are affected by hair loss caused by heredity, medical condition and natural factors. Unfortunately, the hair loss of many of other individuals could have been prevented -by avoiding products applied to the hair containing harsh chemicals such as para-phenylenediamene (PPD) -that can potentially cause major damage to hair and health.

Naturally as people age, the inclination is to use measures to retain a youthful look.  Melanin is the pigment that gives the hair color. Since they lose melanin with age, many will use stronger permanent hair color dyes. The final hair color is produce when the hair dye interacts with the melanin. Gray hair is usually harder to dye by this measure because of the dramatically lowered melanin level.  Additionally, permanent chemical dyes can damage the hair shaft, since it becomes thinner and finer as we age.

…. And now for the cliché: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.

Dermatologists have recommended the use of all natural pure henna for hair to prevent potential scalp allergy and hair loss caused by the overuse of chemical hair color dyes. Pure henna coats the hair and doesn’t penetrate the hair shaft. The addition of other natural vegetable-based ingredients produces an all-natural hair color dye in various shades such as: golden, red, mahogany, brown, dark brown and soft black.
Lustrous Henna®. Your ounce of prevention against potential hair loss.

Hi, my name is Krista and I just wanted to share my experience with using Lustrous Henna.

I have naturally curly fine hair that is now 40% gray.  I had been dying my hair with the traditional dyes for years.  Last year my hair was severely damaged by having a professional put a color remover on my hair to remove old, too dark dye. After the application, my hair was what they call "bubble gum" hair in the industry.  It was like rubber when wet and snapped off when it was dry.  I was told that there was no cure for this and I would just have to cut it all off and that I couldn't use any chemicals on it.
I was searching the internet for a protein treatment that would strengthen my hair.  When I read about the conditioning properties of henna and it colored the gray without chemicals,  I placed an order that day. My before and after picture speak for themselves but let me just tell you more.  After using the Lustrous Henna just one time, my hair was softer and shinier than before it was damaged.  It took about 2 months and 2 more applications of the Lustrous Henna and not blow drying my hair, the breakage stopped.  I work in a spa and the hairstylists that told me I would have to cut it off couldn't believe the recovery my hair made.
Here are some other benefits I have noticed since using your product.  My hair started sprouting new growth all over my scalp!  My hair is twice as thick (the hair bands I use prove it) as before.  My hair is naturally curly and it is much easier to blow dry straight now.  I had used red dyes before, but they never looked like a natural red, it faded fast and every hair was the same color, not to mention I was putting awful chemicals on my head!
I just love the multi-tonal highlights that the Lustrous Henna gives my hair.  The streaks in my hair in the picture are not bleached highlights, that is my natural color showing through.  I use the Lustrous Henna Red on the roots of my hair and the natural henna on the rest of my hair to give it depth and to look naturally sun bleached like a child's hair.  I would also like to mention that I have gotten wonderful customer service from Saba Botanical.  I have spoken to Syed on the phone for advice on colors and application and he is a wonderful, knowlegeable person.  My orders have arrived in the mail the same week I ordered them.
Thank You for saving my hair with your wonderful product.  I will be a loyal customer for years to come.
    Krista B. from Missouri, U.S.A.
    P.S.
I guess what I should have said.  My hair is still very naturally curly, always has been, but I blow dry it straight and use a chi straightening iron.  Using the henna has made it much easier to blow dry straight.  I wear it both curly and straight or curl it in big loose wings with a curling iron.  That's one of the points I was trying to convey to customers with naturally curly hair in that the henna makes it a lot easier to straighten it.
    Krista

Permanent Hair Color Dye: Invention. Benefit. Consequence.

A brief look into the dictionary can clarify our understanding of words rarely used, as well as those we use often in daily expression.

Invention Invention: something invented: as (1) : a product of the imagination; (2) : a device, contrivance, or process originated after study and experiment.

    Benefit: a: something that promotes well-being : advantage b : useful aid : help

Consequence: something produced by a cause or necessarily following from a set of conditions (the economic consequences of the war)

    Chemical or Synthetic Dye

According to history, Eugene Schueller invented permanent hair color synthetic dye in 1907. The benefits: easier to cover gray, make a fashion statement or even ‘reinvent’ one’s self. Unfortunately, there are sad consequences that have been suffered by many users of synthetic dyes containing harsh chemicals. They range from severe skin allergy-to hair loss-to being linked with different forms of cancer after prolonged use.

Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today.
100% All Natural Plant-Based Hair Color Dye

Working in collaboration with AMA Herbal Company of India, Syed Abbas, (owner of Saba Botanicals of USA) made a breakthrough discovery in the ancient tradition of all natural hair coloring. Combining pure henna with other natural plant and vegetable ingredients, Lustrous Henna® was invented.

The benefits are similar to other dyes: covering gray, making a fashion statement, ‘reinventing’ one’s self. The natural dye release is much quicker than traditional henna, which involves several hours to complete.

The ‘consequences’ are: many happy, satisfied men and women who no longer suffer damage from harsh chemical dyes. In fact, the ingredients in Lustrous Henna® are known for their traditional hair conditioning benefits.

Before I started using your Lustrous Henna, I was kind of skeptical about your product because I was using different natural Henna since I have not found another natural product in the market before you.
After speaking with you about Lustrous Henna, I have decided to try it and I MUST tell you that I really like it.  It really does the job of giving a lustrous color to my hair.  My hair also feels softer.  I love the smell it gives my hair.  Let me tell you even my husband love the smell it adds to my hair…that’s a bonus!!!
Lustrous Henna is good and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested to color their hair for a lustrous look.
    All the very best,

The Definition of HAIR. Part Two

    A Single Strand

Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today.
Each strand of hair is made up of the medulla, cortex, and cuticle. The innermost region, the medulla, is not always present and is an open, unstructured region. The highly structured and organized cortex, or middle layer of the hair, is the primary source of mechanical strength, water uptake. The cortex contains melanin, which colors the fiber based on the number, distribution and types of melanin granules.
The shape of the follicle determines the shape of the cortex, and the shape of the fiber is related to how straight or curly the hair is. Asian hair typically has a round fiber and is quite straight. Oval and irregularly shaped fibers are generally more wavy or even curly. The cuticle is the outer covering. Its complex structure slides as the hair swells and is covered with a single molecular layer of lipid that makes the hair repel water.

The diameter of human hair varies from 17 to 180 µm (0.00067 to 0.0071 in), depending on the color. Flaxen hair is the thinnest and black hair is the thickest.*
If it’s Dead, Does it Really Matter What I Do to it?
Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today.
Absolutely. If we care about our hair, it doesn’t have to be dull, dry and lifeless. We can choose to have naturally beautiful and healthy hair. Caring for and protecting our scalp is essential for hair growth and beauty. Therefore, avoiding synthetic chemical dyes will prevent potential skin irritation and severe allergic reaction.

Thankfully, we can wisely choose an all natural vegetable-based (plant) hair color dye for all natural and lustrous beauty: Lustrous Henna®, the true definition of natural hair color.

    Dear Syed,
    I Love Lustrous Henna
I've been meaning to write to you about your excellent product. I used Lustrous Henna this weekend and it was by far the best experience and result I've had from a henna-based product.  The creamy formula was easy to apply and rinse out (unlike so many other henna products I've tried), and the color is vibrant. I achieved much better coverage of my grays than with any other product and I intend to keep on using it. Also, I'm going to bring your pamphlet to a local health food store and praise Lustrous Henna to the max!  Thanks so much for a great product, Syed.

I found that with my hair I needed about 3/4 of a package for one application, and will use the remainder for touch-ups.
I hope this finds you well --- it was so pleasant chatting with you.
    All the best,
    Doretta W.

The Definition of HAIR. Part One.

Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today According to Wikipedia: “Hair is a filamentous biomaterial, that grows from follicles found in the dermis. The human body, apart from the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, is covered in follicles which produce thick terminal and fine vellus hair. Most common interest in hair is focused on hair growth, hair types and hair care.”

Getting Down to the Root of the Matter

Hair is an important biomaterial primarily composed of protein, notably keratin. Keratin assembles into rope-like intermediate filaments. The structure of these filaments provides strength to the hair shaft.
Hair growth begins under the skin in a hair follicle. The only "living" portion of the hair is found in the follicle. The hair that is visible is the hair shaft, which exhibits no biochemical activity and is considered dead. The base of the root is called the bulb, which contains the cells that produce the hair shaft. Other structures of the hair follicle include the oil producing sebaceous gland which lubricates the hair.

Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today.Hair Color and Pigment

All natural hair colours are the result of two types of hair pigment. Both these pigments are types of melanin produced inside the hair follicle and packed into granules found in the fibres. Eumelanin is the dominant pigment in dark-blond, brown and black hair, while pheomelanin is increased amounts in red hair. Blond hair is the result of having little pigmentation in the hair strand. Gray hair occurs when melanin decreases or disappears.*
Covering gray is no longer something to fret over. Lustrous Henna® for hair covers gray and brings back the natural highlights. It is a plant-based completely natural hair color dye free of harmful chemicals. Lustrous Henna® defines hair beautifully.

Permanent Hair Dyes and Cancer. Is There a Link?

This is an issue that has been researched in recent years and it appears that more research is needed on more patients to reach a definite conclusion.
prevent chemical hair dye damage According to The National Cancer Institute, even though results are limited and inconsistent, “Over the years, some epidemiologic (population) studies have found an increased risk of bladder cancer in hairdressers and barbers. A 2008 report of the Working Group of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) concluded that some of the chemicals these workers are exposed to occupationally are ‘probably carcinogenic to humans’."  The National Cancer Institute also reports on the conflict between long-term permanent hair dye usage and increased risks of certain cancers of the blood and bone marrow, such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and leukemia; also breast and bladder cancer. Read more: "Hair Dyes and Cancer Risk".

In 2004, WebMD printed an article entitled, Hair Dye Linked to Blood Cancer”., Daniel J. NeNoon reported that results from a research study by Yale scientist, Tongzhang Zheng, “Long-term use of permanent hair dye—in dark colors—doubles a person’s risk of certain blood cancers... The results: An increased risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was observed for women who reported the use of hair coloring products before 1980. Women who used dark-colored permanent hair-coloring products for more than 25 years doubled their risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The risk was nearly the same for women who used more than 200 applications of these products. No increased risk was seen in women who used semi-permanent dyes or temporary rinses.

So should women stop using permanent hair dyes?

‘Hair coloring is a personal decision for all kinds of reasons,’ Zheng tells WebMD. ‘But if I am the person, if semi-permanent or temporary dyes could serve my issue, I would do it. Because these contain much less of the ingredients linked to cancer.’" (end of quote). Read the entire article by clicking the link above.

Why take even a small risk with your health, when there is a natural alternative? Use an all natural plant-based hair color dye and eliminate worry: Lustrous Henna® for hair.

I'm a 54 yrs. old "natural" brunette and LOVE Lustrous Henna and their wonderful customer service with Syed.

A few months ago I was diagnosed with Lymphoma at Mayo Clinic with follow up 3 mos. visits to a Hematologist, blood specialist there. I then began to think about changing some of my lifestyle habits and a NATURAL Hair Color was an easy one to change. I am not on chemo since my Dr. says my own immune system is trying to fight this cancer. Chemo kills the good & the bad, therefore I'm thankful I do still have my hair at this time.
My friend introduced me to Lustrous Henna when I complemented her hair. I didn't even know she used any type of color on it, because it looked so natural. She ordered my first time with her order, to try it out. So I have twice now, due to shorter hair. So glad I heard about this henna from her!
I am thankful for the Lustrous Henna's shorter process time compared to others that require an extremely longer process and it leaves my hair in much much better condition than when I did salon color. My single priority, due to my health issue, is that it's safe, plus it looks and feels so natural and healthy. I can't say enough good about it.
It was my pleasure to visit with Syed a few days ago about Lustrous Henna. His patience and very informative manner  is so helpful and refreshing. He is an asset to Lustrous Henna products. He helped me a great deal with tips on how to tone the gray as it grows in from my root line.

I sincerely thank you Syed and Lustrous Henna for the difference you have made in my life.
    I'll be ordering again soon.

    Warmest Regards,
    Twyla R.

Choose Hair Color to Highlight Your Natural Beauty. Part Two

According to color experts, our overall facial features are usually divided up into two categories: Cool and Warm.  Our eyes, skin and natural hair coloring determine whether we are in the warm category or cool category.

Cool eye color:  dark brown, black-brown, gray-blue, dark blue, hazel with white gray or blue flecks.
Cool hair (natural) color: Blue-Black (or jet black), deep brown, ash brown, ash blond, platinum blond.
Cool skin tone:  very dark brown, true olive, medium pale, medium with golden undertones, pale, bronze.

Warm eye color: golden brown, green, green-blue, turquoise, hazel with golod or brown flecks.
Warm hair (natural) color: deep brown with gold or red highlights, red, strawberry blond, gray-yellow, natural or golden blond.
Warm skin tone:  brown with pink or golden undertones, peachy or with peachy undertones, pale with gold undertones, freckled, ruddy.

Of course if you don’t remember what color your natural hair is or if you regularly use tanning beds, it might not be as simple. What colors currently compliments your facial features -in your wardrobe-should be able to determine if you are warm or cool. Blue, green and violet are cool hues. Red, orange and yellows are warm hues.

Lustrous Henna. Only $6.99 per 100 gm. pack. Try it today
Most complimentary hair color for warm skin: golden, rich brown and redder coloring.

Most complimentary hair color for warm skin: ashy shades of brown  (instead of red-browns), black, light colors.

Caveat: The above is very basic. Remember, you are: uniquely you. Your complexion might be more of a combination that doesn’t ‘fit’ into a basic category. There is not true “cookie-cutter” template on cool or warm individuals. As suggested in part one of this post, if you’re unsure, do the following: It might be helpful to save some hair from your comb or hairbrush until you have enough test for color. Do a color test on your saved hair to ensure that you will like the results.

Ignore the myths, think more about skin tone, eye color and your natural haircolor and highlights, then choose the Lustrous Henna® shade that naturally suits you and your natural beauty.
